CHAPTER 8: Meeting the Psychic

After driving for half an hour, we finally arrived at our destination, it is a mansion with an old big fence in front. The big gates are closed so we decided to park outside. As we walked inside the gate we noticed that the place was pretty barren. It is a mansion with a neoclassical structure; the place looks old but well maintained.

'Is this the place?' I asked myself with astonishment while looking at the beautiful adobe. On the other hand, Draco's unimpressed look can be seen plainly as he gazes at the area.

"He should be a talented con artist if he's this rich" he derides, scoffing at the idea.

Hearing this, I rolled my eyes as I ignored his remark. As we stopped in front of the wooden double door, I rang the doorbell once waiting for someone to greet us. We patiently waited at the door but no one answered.

"Huh, that's weird. We are at the right address though" I said as I opened my phone checking the address given to me. Draco is just standing beside me with his same usual expression with his hands crossed on his chest. I once again pressed the doorbell hoping for someone to be inside but still no answer. That's when I decided to knock on the door.

"Tsk there's no one here. We should just go" Draco said with an annoyed look on his face as he grabbed my wrist, stopping me from knocking.

I was suddenly taken aback by his sudden touch; that's why I yanked my wrist away from him. His face turned from annoyed look to surprise by my sudden action. He looked at me with slightly wide eyes with his hand still in the air.

"Sorry..I know you hate physical touch so I was surprised" I explained as I touched my nape, getting flustered.

Upon hearing this, Draco turned his head at the side, avoiding eye contact, with a solemn expression on his face. "Let's go back" he replied in a monotonous tone. He then started to walk away from me.

Is he mad? I didn't pull away that harshly right? Anyway I don't care if he is upset, he used to do that to me before too. I should not care what he feels toward me and just focus on getting back to normal. I shook my head as I tried to compose myself back. I grabbed the door knob, attempting to open it.

"Wait! The door is not unlocked" I exclaimed as I opened one of the doors.

'So it was unlocked all along?' I opened it widely as I let myself in. Draco then stopped on his tracks and turned back at me with furrowed brows.

"We should check if there's anyone here" I said as I looked back at him.

"No. That's trespassing" he firmly disagree as his face

I walked inside as I wandered my eyes around. The interior is mostly white with modern decorations and furniture with a patterned linoleum flooring. There is a wide stair on the right corner leading to the second floor to which I immediately walked upstairs. As I walked upstairs, I noticed that Draco finally followed me inside, cautiously looking around as he stepped in.

As I got to the second floor, I just followed the hallway passing some closed rooms as I strolled by. As I was curiously wandering around, I noticed a slightly opened door just ahead of me.

I stepped into what looked like an office. It has big shelves with old books and strange decorations plastered everywhere.

I looked closer at the collection of thick books ranging from the oldest to the newest looking once's. "Woah" I reacted, astonished by the room.

"Don't touch anything" Draco suddenly whispered at me with a wary look showing on his face.

Still examining the stuff on the shelves, I answered him, "I know. I'm just looking around". Not satisfied by my answer, Draco became impatient and hissed.

"Emma, we should go. I told you this is a fraud!"

Suddenly, another door in the room which we didn't notice swung open revealing a sleepy looking man with a disheveled look.

"Who are you? How did you get here?" He immediately asked when he saw us. Both of us went frozen with a panicked look on our faces.Draco immediately pulled me behind with a tense expression.

"Uhm your clients? Didn't your assistant tell you we're coming?" I then answered with a question. The strange person raised a brow as he stared at us in confused looks. After a while, his face turned from confusion to annoyed expression as he realized something.

"That darn brat! Always making decisions on his own without my knowing" he muttered while covering his face with one hand and giving a loud sigh.

He is a tall man with shoulder-length black hair, with some hanging down in front of his face, a half-shaven beard, and a small mustache. He is wearing a matching black suit with a couple unbuttoned long-sleeve shirts. He looked like in his mid 30's. His appearance is a mess but to be honest, he has an alluring charm with him.

"Anyway, I know you came this far but I'm sorry to tell you that I don't take clients now. You should go" he said as he started walking to the table, sitting in the swivel chair behind.

"Wait! Please we need your help!" I begged as I followed him to table

"Not interested" he replied in a apathetic tone as he grabbed a pen on his drawer

I slammed my hands on the table and leaned in, "We'll pay you handsomely"I reasoned back giving him a determined look

"Young man, no matter how much you pay me, as I said I'm not interested" he answered indifferently, still not giving a glance at me. That's when I grabbed his wrist making him look at me in surprise. When he stared right into my eyes, his eyes widened as if he saw a ghost. After a moment of staring, his expression turned from surprised to astonishment.

"Interesting.." he said still staring deep into my eyes,

Upon hearing that, I looked at him in confusion, "Huh?" he then gazed at us while showing a business smile as he intertwined his hands on the table.

"Please take a seat both of you. This will be an exciting case"
