Chapter 5: 400 year war

"You guys read the book about the history of this kingdom right? Tell me about it" Perseus said while sitting on his bed "I need to learn some stuff"

"Do you really want to listen about all of it?" Siege asked "The history of Artia includes the 400 year war."

"Well short version is fine," Perseus answered "Too long and it might go in one ear and through the other"

"Well our world, the physical world was peaceful, till one day, cities and towns started being destroyed and culprits were never found. It did however left clues, an unknown energy that would later be known as Arcana, it wasn't long till people found out the culprits" Siege explained "Spirit beasts like us has existed in the physical world for a long time, however the culprits were mythical beings that people at the time doubt even existed, angels and demons, they were at war. To lessen the damages done in their world, they instead fight each other in the physical world and use it as their battleground since the barrier between the physical world and the spiritual world at the time"

"Yeah, this is the part where I don't get, why were they fighting?" Perseus asked

"We never knew, the only people who knows were the royalties at the time" Ace answered "It was only discussed among the higher ups and that was when we all made peace"

"One more question before you continue, why did the barrier between the 2 worlds weaken?" Perseus questioned

"No one knows, even the beings from the spiritual world don't, they just took the advantage of the moment, which was destroying our world instead of theirs" Ace shook his head "And killing our people who stood in their way, some angels and demons even kill the people from our world for sport while some capture us as their slaves"

"Continue please" Perseus nodded

"The spiritual beings were much stronger than the ones from the physical world who back then only fought with a sword or bow, we could not stop the bloodshed and we were to weak to invade their world, so instead we focused on survival. After about 150 years, a man named Andrius Thames could not stand to see people killed trying to stop the 2 sides, and he was curious about the energy and tools that the angels and demons were using, so he studied it until one day, he can tap into it and use it himself. Andrius then taught it to 4 students, one of which was Artia Magus the founder of Artia, and the 5 then passed their teachings down to others." Siege continued "We then joined in the war in order to stop them from ravaging this world turning it into a 3 way war, the war lasted for another 250 years before all the sides no longer want anymore bloodshed, the leaders of the time negotiated a peace deal and that's how it was ever since"

"What about the histories of the buries? The old man usually avoided these types of questions" Perseus asked

"Of course, it was hard to take in for your younger self and you are still young" Siege responded

"Not like you are any older" Perseus argued

"I'll answer it, but you won't like the answer, so do you still want to listen?" Ace raised his paw

"Go ahead, I'm ready" Perseus nodded

"People in the buries are the descendant of traitors, people at the time sided with one side of the spiritual beings to keep themselves safe, and even joined them ravaged the physical world, after the signing of the peace treaty, those traitors were banished and are forced to live in the buries, where the barrier is at its weakest and where most people died" Ace answered

"No wonder they hate us so much, but why in the world do they decide to punish us for what our ancestors did?! It's all bullshit!" Perseus complained

"I told you you won't like the answer" He sighs "And the attack on people from the buries will happen at any day now, it's too much to take in"

"Those fucking council of 7, I'll kill them if I see them right now" Perseus cursed

"Well they will have strong guards protecting them, let's sleep and think more about this later" Siege said

Perseus then calmed down and slept for the day. For the next few days, he spent most of his time in the library reading whatever he could find, from tips and tricks on how to use Arcana to story books.

"He shall be your teacher for etiquette and many more subject that is to come, instructor Light Williams" John introduced an old man who was standing next to him

Light Williams was a man looked to be in his late 60s, 180cm tall, grey hair, light green eyes and has a grey curly mustache.

"Just call me instructor Williams or simply Williams would be fine, young Perseus" He said as he gave out his hand to which Perseus shook

"I'm uh Perseus, nice to meet you" Perseus replied

"Next time, please introduce yourself as Perseus Silver since you are now a part of their family, please keep that in mind" He smiled

"I will need to file the papers for that, so excuse me as I do so" John bowed before turning to Perseus "Oh and the one who will be joining your class should be arriving shortly, off I go"

Perseus and his beasts were engaging with the instructor is light conversation till they heard horse galloping, meaning that a carriage that is carrying the other student arrived.

A tall bulky man around 2 meters tall then got out of the carriage, he had black hair, green eyes, a black beard and dressed in a fur coat for the cold weather. A girl then jumped out of the carriage behind him, she also black hair and green eyes, she was wearing a green dress with a puffy fur coat over it.

She then saw them and did a curtsy to introduce herself.

"Greetings, it's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Emma Steel" She then gave them a smile

"No need for formal introductions, young lady, a regular greeting is fine" Williams chuckled

"And I'm her father, Craig Steel" the bulky man introduced himself

"How did you grow so big? Just what did you eat?" Perseus asked incredulously
