As a young woman Adair Fox enters the civilization test, the most difficult test in the entirety of the Galactic Empire, in hopes of achieving that highest of honors and finally becoming eligible to meet her parents. During the test Adair acts out of desperation and uses a dangerous ritual to save her people, only to get betrayed by them shortly after. Unfortunately not only does Adair fail the test, but she also finds herself trapped in a void for thousands of years until she eventually meets up with another being. She makes a deal with the Reincarnation Machine, which allows her to go back in time and become a sorceress.

The Forgotten Ability

In reflection of this whole situation of her time in the Sanctuary, she once again realized that she had been completely outclassed and didn't even know it had happened. She knew that something was off and that she wasn't exactly being treated properly. But she had no idea that someone was able to control her life completely from the shadows, and she was completely unaware of it happening.

This once again made her wonder why exactly she wanted to stay here because even though there had the potential for immense benefits, the idea of being manipulated from the shadows made her think that maybe it was actually in her best interests to get out of here.

Taking this train of thought a bit further, though, she realized that if she went back with Hank and the lack of civilization meant that if she ever ran into a similar situation to this again that the same results would happen again, which was something that she really did not want to happen.
