A Step in the Right Direction

CHAPTER 16

Just as Aria had planned, she started getting inquiries about Alexander's activities and the company he worked for using her family's influence.

Although to her parents she pretended that she still needed time in sorting out her memories out, in reality, they were right there, including hers and Jade's.

Seating on one of the chairs in her room, she let out a sigh as she dropped the newspaper in her hands on her thigh then lifted her left hand a bit just to check the time.

"It is about time. Why hasn't he come?"

Knock!

She peeled her gaze from her watch and looked at her door.

Knock!

The second time the knock came in it brought her out of her mild trance and she recalled what to do.

"Come in." Quickly she adjusted herself in her seat as she waited for the door to open. At the next second the door did indeed push open, revealing a young man in his late twenties with jet black hair oddly combed to the left side of his hair.

He was wearing a pair of black pants with a light brown turtle neck shirt inside and a black jacket to go with it.

"Good day ma'am," he greeted upon entering and shutting the doors close.

"Good day. Please do have a seat." She pointed at one of the empty chairs in the room and waited for him to have his seat before she proceeded to the order f business.

"Do you have what I asked for, Leon?"

The young man seated before her was none other than one of her office workers and a bit of a close associate. He was very zealous with his work and that was why Jade had liked him.

Before her accident, he usually pushed her to try and do more than just be a Vice CEO and the daughter of a rich businessman but normally she brushed it aside, saying the man needed to do all the work while she needed to relax.

They had once been friends in grade one and when they met again, he was grown and a well-educated young one. In fact, recruiting him was one of the best things she did for the company.

After that though, it was like she left him to handle things for her, oftentimes pushing some of her work to him due to how useful his brains worked.

"Yes, ma'am. Everything is in this file," began then dipped his right hand in his left jacket pocket and brought out a flash.

At first, when he said file, she had thought he brought with him a document in an envelope or something but it turned out that was not the case.

A small smile appeared on her cheeks at her own mistake.

"Here you go," he said and handed over the flash drive to her. "Everything you need to know concerning them is right here," he removed his hand, leaving her with the documents she asked.

"Thank you very much. How are things in the office?"

"Things are okay ma. One thing though, why do you want to invest in such a company when you can try and with your personality, brains and connections, get a bigger and better investment in a top company. It would make your parents proud."

"I know what I am doing. It would help one day. Sometimes, smaller companies like this need the investment to get bigger production and better yield. Also, they are not really small per se. Just in need of the right boost. Given the time frame, if they push with their stocks and all, they are bound to hit it and be amongst the top thirty companies."

"Hmm, not so bad."

"Yes, and if they have a brilliant manager, I bet they can get others to invest in their business too and get to the top 20."

"Wow. It looks like you have carefully analyzed this company."

"Umm. Let's just say I am looking for ways to get us to be top three. And what this company needs is a step in the right direction."

"But ma'am, your marriage would get you there. You do not need to even do this."

"Well, I want their family to see that we are also bringing more to the plate and not just relying on them. I know mum and dad needs this deal but I believe we can do more."

"I see. Hmm, I must say, this is the first time I have seen you so much interested in the company's growth. Before you always left it for your parents to handle."

"Well, since I am also involved and not getting younger, I need to prove to them I can handle this much."

"Wow. I am impressed then. Keep it up and perhaps you might not need this marriage to rise. No matter what, know that you have my support."

"Yes, thank you but I doubt my parents would agree. Regardless I would keep the good thought."

He never was one who believed in using marriage to boost one's company like they were making her do so when he found out, he thought she would be thrilled, and so he messaged her to congratulate her.

It was through his chat that Aria knew of his closeness to Jade and then decided to use him to get the information she needed.

Turns out, Jade wasn't completely useless when it came to having an association.

"Do not worry. Let's see how things go. If you are fast and are correct then perhaps it would benefit you greatly."

"Yeah. I would read it all tonight. Thanks, Leon."
