New Skill

A week after the incident in the hospital, Jayce could be seen filling out papers for his release.

"You finished yet?" The headmaster had been waiting for Jayce to fill out the forms.

"Just finished."

Jayce had asked the headmaster to take him somewhere before enrolling in the academy. Seeing no problem with it, the headmaster drove both of them toward the destination.

An hour later they arrived, at the place where Jayce used to live and where his family died. With the headmaster staying in the car, Jayce unlocked the front and walked in.

The apartment looked completely normal. As if the incident never happened.

Closing the door behind him, Jayce went straight to the kitchen. Memories that he tried desperately to forget surfaced back up.

Trying his best to ignore them, he started looking around.

Finding what he was after, he picked up the silver bracelet that was on the floor. Sliding it on his finger, he turned around and headed for the front door.

As his hand reached for the door handle, he stopped.

"Alice, Ryan. I'm sorry."

He whispered as he left the apartment and went back to the car.

Getting in the passenger seat, the headmaster glanced over at him without saying anything as they headed to where Jayce would spend the next few years, The Academy.

After traveling for about 5 hours, they arrived at a clearing in the forest.

"Weren't you taking me to the Academy?" Jayce asked while looking around, seeing no civilizations for miles.

"Just wait and watch kiddo."

Walking to the middle of the clearing, the headmaster spread his arms and released huge amounts of mana.

A huge magic circle could be seen forming under the headmaster which covered the entire clearing.

"PRINCIPIO"

The earth started to rumble as a tear appeared in the space in front of him. Using his bare hands, the headmaster started making the tear bigger.

"Are you just going to stand there with your mouth open or are you coming?"

Snapping out of his surprise, Jayce ran over to the portal. Cautious of the tear, he was going to enter slowly until the headmaster grabbed him by the shirt.

"Wait, I think I won't go af-." Before finishing his sentence, the headmaster picked him up and smiled.

"In you go." Throwing Jayce through the portal, the headmaster followed after. Once they both entered the portal closed behind them.

Going through the portal, Jayce landed face-first into the ground.

"That damn old man." Standing up and dusting himself off, he looked around to see where had ended up.

His breath was taken away as he looked at the huge town that was far in the distance. In the center of the town was a college campus surrounded by other facilities.

"That is where you will be learning how to protect humanity." Hearing to voice behind him, Jayce turned to see the headmaster standing there with a smile on his face.

"Did you have to throw me through the portal?"

"Yes, now let's head to town before it gets dark." The headmaster walked past Jayce towards the town and Jayce followed.

While following the headmaster, Jayce tried using his {Demonic Eye of Truth} just to get the same response as last time.

His new skill {Demonic Eye of Truth} had let him see the Status Menu of other people. Of course, the first person he tried it on was the headmaster but it did the same thing every time.

Noticing the question marks and he didn't have the Charisma stat, Jayce immediately went to grilling the system for an explanation.

The system explained that he would have to increase his Demonic Synchronization to 20% to see his stats and 43% to see his skills which he didn't see himself getting any time soon with only having 1%.

It also told him that the Charisma stat only belonged to monsters who used some type of mental attack.

Feeling a gaze pierce through him, the headmaster smiled. 'Seems you are not as simple as you let on.' He had felt the same gaze from the hospital, figuring out that it had come from Jayce he had pretended it never happened.

Since then he had kept an eye on the boy only to feel that gaze once in a while.

Arriving at the town entrance, it looked even more impressive up close. The town looked like it came straight out of medieval times, but it wasn't that caught his attention, it was the people.

He could see many different races, some of them having long pointed ears and others with a tail and ears that looked like they belonged to a cat.

The headmaster had noticed Jayce's initial interest in the people in the bustling streets.

"Not all supernatural creatures are out for blood, the ones that wish for a peaceful life live here. Some of them even join the Academy to help us out.

Remember this, we are not only protecting humanity but the ones that live here as well."

The headmaster wanted Jayce to take this to heart. He had seen too many people take their rage out on all supernaturals due to the loss of their loved ones.

Taking in the sights, Jayce hadn't realized they had arrived at the campus. But instead of going to the main building, the headmaster was leading him to a facility inside the campus.

"People are ranked based on their strength from F tier being the lowest and S being the highest."

Seeing Jayce's confused face, a menacing smile appeared across his face.

"Before we register you, we need to find out how strong you are. So you and I are going to have a little spar."

Jayce stopped dead in his tracks, and before he could turn to run away the headmaster grabbed his head.

"There is no getting out of this one." He told Jayce as he dragged him into the facility.

'Alice, Ryan. It seems I will be seeing you sooner than I thought.' Were Jayce's final thoughts as the doors to the facility closed behind him.
