Chapter 29: Saving Grace

“Just what the hell do you think you’re playing at here, pal?” Samantha watched with wide eyes as Christopher got up in Ryan’s face and yelled his displeasure at the taller man.

Without a sound, and before Christopher could react, Ryan stood up from his chair and was behind him in the blink of an eye. He pinned the man’s hands behind his back between his shoulder blades in what looked like a painful position and leaned down to whisper something in his ear.

She watched as Christopher got up from the counter Ryan had pressed him into and fled the bakery in the pouring rain without even grabbing his sunglasses from the counter.
