Chapter 31: A Terrified Creature

“And what would you be doing in this part of the castle at such an odd hour, little dancer?” Galeran’s voice sneered out as he spoke, but to Gisella it only sounded like a broken thing.

The side of his face was red and aching from the looks of it, and she almost felt sorry for the man. She knew now how it was that he turned into the man he was in front of her and the look of pity washed over her face.

Galeran saw this, as he saw most things, and the look of playful violence made way for a sharp and unhinged look. He lurched forward and grabbed her at the collar, a sneer on his face as he looked down at her calmer expression.

“Do not,” he threatened her as he looked down, but he could barely finish his sentence as she scoffed up at him.

“Is this it, then?” She held his wrist tightly, the one curled up into a fist at her neck, and spoke to him, “You suffer harsh reprimands from your father and take it out on every other living being instead?”
