After the feast, Ashlynn walked to the Slytherins dorms. It was in the dungeons. It was green, silver and black. It was… luxurious. Ashlynn heard a few purebloods complaining about how poor their dorms looked. But for someone who lived in a cupboard for eleven years, it was the most fancy looking place she had ever seen. Ashlynn was awed but didn't express it.
She was given a room. Not very big but big enough. She had her room for herself. The slytherins snickered at her. This room was for muggle borns of half bloods who the pure bloods didn't want to share a room with. It was a dishonor to use a room alone here. This meant no one in Slytherin would be Ashlynn's friend.
But Ashlynn smiled. She didn't care. She actually liked having a room for herself. The kids could gossip whatever they like. She won't care. She never had a friend. But she was perfectly fine. And she wouldn't need a friend now. She went to her room and closed the door.
The walls were dark green. There was a clock hanging from a wall. A bed with green and black sheets and a wooden desk with a chair. There was a green light stand on top. There was a closet and one trunk near her bed. A small drawer and a tiny book shelf stood near the door. Ashlynn's things were already there. She started unpacking. She put her clothes and uniform in her closet. She filled the bookshelf with her textbooks and some other books she had bought in Diagon Alley. She also put all her quill pens and notebooks in her trunk. She liked those very much.
Ashlynn looked at the clock. It was late. But she wasn't sleepy. She was very excited. So she opened her textbooks and started to read.
The next day, she woke up just in time for breakfast. She went down and she felt curious stares and glares as she passed. But she was used to it. Ashlynn was eating in the back of the slytherin table when Famous Harry Potter marched up to her.
"Hello, Snake!"
There was a cheer from the Gryffindor table. The Slytherins said nothing.
Ashlynn completely ignored him and kept on eating. This angered Harry. He said,
"I knew you were a slimy little snake! Mom and dad had a good reason to trash you with the Dursleys! Didn't they? They are worried that you are going to be the next dark lord! So they told me to keep an eye on you! They don't trust you! And I don't trust you!"
Ashlynn was very upset. This was the reason she was TRASHED? Hurt flashed in her eyes and she clenched her fist. But she pushed all this deep down inside her. She was good at these things. She kept her calm voice and turned to face Harry.
"If they don't trust me and you have to keep an eye on me because I'm a slimy little snake, why did you just tell me this… Important information? I don't think your parents wanted me to know this when they told you. Is it because you don't have a brain?"
The Slytherins roared with laughter. Ashlynn stood up and left. Hitting Harry's shoulder on her way. She smiled to herself glancing at Harry's red face.
Her first class was charms. With Gryffindors… Ugh… She carried her books and quill and ink and her notebook to her class. She was the first to arrive and she sat in the first row and started reading again. Few minutes later students came rushing in. And Ashlynn saw Harry coming in with his new pal Ron still looking angry.
He glared at Ashlynn but professor Flitwick started class.
"Hello class, today we will be learning the Lumos spell. This is used to light the tip of your wand. Pronunciation is 'LOO-MOS' and youflick and swish. Have a try."
Kids started to shout Lumos at once. Ashlynn heard Harry boasting he could do this but saw that he failed miserably. Ashlynn chanted.
"Lumos" Her wand lit up at once. Not very bright like the professor's but still it was light. The light however was a bit darker. It wasn't the positive brightness but a bit grey.
Professor looked at Ashlynn. She had talent. Filtwick knew it. However he could feel her magic was dark… Pressed.. He had heard from Professor Snape that the girl hadn't been treated with kindness or love like everyone had hoped 10 years ago. But he hadn't realized that it was enough to change her magic. He smiled at her sadly. He gave her 4 points. Later Hermione Granger succeeded in her spell and earned 4 points as well.
Next was history of magic class with the Ravenclaws. It was very boring. WIth professor Binns who was a ghost teaching them. But still, most paid attention including Ashlynn.
After lunch, she went to potions. She frowned when she found out that it was with Gryfindors. When she walked in she met professor Snape's eyes. She greeted him with a nod. She liked the man. He was after all the one who had taken her away. Also Snape seemed to hate Harry. She enjoyed watching him squirm under professor Snape's cold glare. When Harry couldn't answer five questions in a row, professor Snape ignored Hermione who was waving her hand frantically and asked Ashlynn.
"Do you know any questions that Mr. Potter here could not answer?"
Ashlynn smiled. She answered everything correctly and earned 5 points. She smiled at Harry and Harry glared at her.
