Target Retrieved
"Almost there!" I dived down to grab the guy. My wingsuit was active. The metal wingspan spread wide and far and it was the perfect wingsuit for flight.
The boy was nowhere to be seen. The little boy shot through the air like a meteor! He must've had a fatal smash when the Glitch blocked it.
I didn't have any time to think now. I just had one mission... Taking the Glitch back to our base... Alive.
"Aoi-san! Get him quickly! The Rings are approaching!" Oki-san yelled through the earpiece.
"Yes sir!"
I dived down. Glitch-Kun was unconscious and there was blood on the street.
I turned him around and saw blood on his mouth too. 'No... Don't die!' I hesitated. I quickly placed my ear on his chest.
Ahhhh..... I was relieved. I could hear his heartbeat.
"Target retrieved!" I declared. "Fall back, everyone! Fall back to the ship!"
"Roger that! Falling back!"
Oki-san was flying above me. He was wearing a jet pack but no armor. He did not need armor. He had a protective bubble around him.
So... He didn't die easily.
The Rings were charging towards us. Since the boy cleared out all the Rings who were protecting the perimeter... There was no one when we got there.
There was no obstacle for us.
"We can get back in time! Hurry!" Oki-san declared to the team.
"Aye! Aye!"

When we got to the Blue Lotus the battle was already over. I couldn't get a clear view of the Glitch, or the kid who blasted the crowd.
Both of them had escaped, leaving no evidence behind. The Reapers had kidnapped the man who has the power of the Glitch and worst of all...
All the security cameras were jammed due to the energy ripples created from the battle between the Glitch and the mysterious boy.
"Hmm... We don't have any clues huh?" I turned to Moe-chan. She placed her hand on the back and patted me.
"There's one clue. The Reapers took him..." She stated the obvious.
I sighed. "We can't go to Tsujii's place tonight. We should come tomorrow. Also... The team... I need to make use of these shitheads!"
Moe-chan had a smile on the corner of her mouth. "That's right! The control freak is finally coming online!"
After helping the crew of Akinoshita clean up the dead bodies, we headed back to our base. It was a pretty crazy day... But it was useless.
I didn't know the origin story of this Glitch thing... But I was pretty sure that the Government was in on this.

Darkness... Nothing was there.
Suddenly, something bright came up to sight. It was like my memories were flashing inside my head.
I could see my daughter's face. "Mitsu-chan..." my lips moved.
Then, I heard some strange voices. One was familiar to my ear, the other wasn't.
"He's alive right?"
"Yes! Yes! Calm down..."
The faint voices spoke. The memories were still a flash. I couldn't remember what happened back then.
Then, I tasted something like rusted metal in my mouth. The taste of blood. "Ughh...." I suddenly groaned. I could feel my muscles moving.
"He's waking up!" It was a woman's voice. I can clearly hear it now.
"Are you all right?" The woman asked. I didn't know if it was for me. I slowly started to open my eyes and a faint image started to form in front of me.
It was a view I'd seen before. A beautiful godlike beauty.
She was tall, her hair was snow-white, orange eyes, thin waist, and a sleeveless dress. What a beauty... A fair angel straight from the heavens, so I thought.
"Are you feeling all right?" She leaned towards me and asked. Her face was only inches away now.
"Yes..." I managed to mutter it out.
"Oki-san... What are his conditions?" The woman asked from the guy who was standing beside her.
The guy was about in his mid-30s. He was wearing glasses... Still, looking handsome. He wore a blue shirt and in his hands was a long tablet.
"Hmm... There's no condition... His body automatically healed I guess."
I looked back at the woman. My eyes went from her face and down her neck and...
Her breasts were large. And besides the tightly fitted chest plate of her armor... There was the badge. A badge of a skull. The Reapers.
All the memories flooded back to my head. The woman who was standing in front of me mounting me at the attack....The Rings. The Blue Lotus. The Kid. The consequences...
"Wha— no! The crowd! I killed them...."
The woman was dumbfounded. "What?"
I couldn't bear it. The memories. The people getting erased one by one by the kid's blasts.
"No! I—"
"Calm down..." Suddenly, the woman grabbed my hand and touched it softly. "You didn't do anything... Anything we did... We did because we had no choice..."
Those words weren't meant only for me. They were meant for everyone. She must've been the leader of the Reapers. Those words, were the words of a leader.
"Oki-san... Take him off to a change of clothes! We need to have a little chat with him..." She smiled at me as she held my hand in her grasp.
Her hand was so soft. For a moment... I felt relieved. And then... My daughter and my wife; I remembered them.
"I need to see my daughter... I need to go back home," I blurted. The girl looked at me.
"Don't worry... You're safe here. Once the situation cools down, we'll get you back home."
Her words were relieving. Yet, if I am gone for more than a day, my wife would be worried sick. "My phone... Can I call my family?"
I didn't know why I asked permission for that. I still wasn't in my full conscience.
"Of course you can... Although we have to keep the information about the Reapers between us. No one should know your real identity except the people in this organization. I need to ensure your safety to move forward with our mission!"
I nodded. I placed my head on the pillow and slowly closed my eyes, taking a deep breath.
All those suspicions and questions are unanswered. All of them came to my head. Then... I opened my eyes, with suspicion towards every single human around me.
