Joakim Dufer and the Prophet's Staff

Joakim Dufer was an inspector who couldn't use magic. Everyone, including his secret crush Emma Berager, treated him as a third wheel, but the Cardinal Owen somehow appointed him as chief of the special brigade to chase heretics who worshiped Arakne, a pagan goddess. While trying to prove himself in his job, he fell into the hands of heretics and happened to create a bond with them. They asked for his help to steal the wand of the Cardinal Owen to cure their family member, and Joakim didn't know what to do.
