Chapter 26: Last night

Josh woke up with a headache. He sat languidly. His vision is blurry and slowly gets clear. With moist eyes, he looked around. He saw tall trees with red flowers in his front. Birds chirping resounded in his ears as he looked to his left. There he saw a bunny munching an oversized carrot. It was hiding from bushes with pink flowers looking like rhododendron. He turned to his right and saw rays of light shining in a broken tree trunk lying in the ground. A girl with sky-blue fluffy hair sat in it. She also has a sky-blue eye that matched perfectly with her hair.

The girl seemed to feel someone stare at her. She looked at the only guy she was with. They stare at each other for half a minute before she embarrassingly coughed,

*Cough!* *Cough!*

"You're awake."

"Hmm. Y-Yeah."

"T-thank you for saving me last night…"

"Last night?" Josh tilted his head to the left looking confused.

"You don't remember?"

"I remembered passing out after practicing my spells…"

"…!!" Matilda had her pupils dilate and her eyes fully open.

'But you just killed George last night…' She looked at the patch of dried blood behind Josh.

'So, he really is possessed??' She thought gravely.

"You don't remember what we did last night?"

"L-Last night!!?" Josh now had his eyes fully shocked. He remembered the tales he heard from his classmates in high school where a boy and girl do things that they deemed fun.

"Did I in-insert something to you last night?"

"Huh?" 'Your mana to my mark?' She thought for a moment "… yes."

"..!!!" Josh felt like an electrical shock course through his spine.

He watched some videos of the so-called fun activity his classmates are talking about on the country-wide internet. He never thought much about it nor did his flaccid thing similar to do guy's part rose from watching it. He searched more about it and saw a site where the activity is deemed sacred instead of just a fun activity.

"…Do we take responsibility toward each other now?" Josh said hesitantly.

'The magic presence oath' "That's what you made me do last night…"

"Oh god… I mean Polar Panda… I've never thought I'll have a wife in my teenage…" Josh muttered under his breath.

"Look behind you." The girl said while pointing at the place behind Josh.

'A huge patch of blood…' Josh thought with his eyes widened again.

"I really did it last night?" Josh said with his voice shaking.

'You remembered killing him?' The girl thought for a moment.

"Yeah, you did. Thank you for that. Although it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, you really 'came' at the perfect time."

'She's thanking me… oh my god…' Josh thought while imagining the loud moaning he watched with loudspeakers at the computer shops.

"Uh-Uhm. I'm glad then."

"What's your name?"

'polar panda… what have I done… I don't even know her name too…'

"I'm Josh… Josh Cloud"

"Mine's Matilda Bao."

Josh and Matilda trekked out of the forest with Matilda leading the way. Josh tried to locate his mini glow-in-the-dark ropes tied in the branches, but for some reason, they are nowhere to be seen.

After walking for a while, they finally got out of the forest and were now standing in the road.

"Finally, I'm out. Haaaaa~" Matilda exhaled exhaustedly.

Josh just looked at the girl standing right next to him, still with a little hint of shock on his face.

'I really have a wife now…'

"Let's walk to the end of the road. Can you walk properly? I can lend a hand." Matilda said while stretching her right arm toward Josh.

"N-No. I'm fine." Josh looked away with red ears.

"Hmm. Okay. You're shy, huh. Even though you're too wild and scary last night…" Matilda muttered lowly, but Josh still heard it. His ears and cheeks became red hot and something seemed not so flaccid anymore.
