the first date part 2

A Kidnapping

What a terrible outing

It took all of 45 minutes for everything to go wrong

Once their food had arrived and Cane's wallet was feeling markedly lighter, Akari had set herself upon her food, gorging to an extent that people started to look at them strangely. He had to admit he hadn't expected that the same woman who was glaring at him so fiercely earlier was the same one who practically had stars in her eyes as she devoured her food with the focus of a thousand suns.

From there it was a simple loop between food arriving, and being eaten and Cane trying to engage in conversation before arriving once again. However, she never paid him any attention, instead of burying her head in her "work". Until finally, she ate so much she was forced to excuse herself to the bathroom, Cane decided to let her go alone as the building was surrounded by Catacomb personnel and if she escaped she couldnt get far due to her collar having a tracker on it

AND that's when she got kidnapped

Exactly 4 and a half minutes after she left the table one of the guard squads making a patrol around the building failed to report in, upon being found they were already dead, a bullet wound to the back of the heads of two-thirds of the three-man squad and one missing

Upon getting a Phone call to inform him of this Cane rushed to the bathroom, knocking and then kicking the door in

"Akari!" he yelled, scoping out the room and checking the stalls, much to the shock of a woman in the third stall who let out a shrill scream "sorry!" he shouted as he ran out

From there it was a matter of tracking down Akari, Whose Collar signal had gone silent somehow.

Getting in his car and beginning to drive, to see if he could find her, as she would likely have been taken on foot, Cane pulled out his phone, dialing the number that had been given to him prior to the outing in case of emergency

"Dr. Barlow?" a male voice asked, upon picking up

"Correct, now I need a name, potential address, and motive for the kidnapper" Cane quikly dished out his needs, time was of the essence after all

"The guard who was missing and suspected of being a traitor was identified as one Mason Donald who works as a casual contract security guard, within the F cell block" began the voice in a no-nonsense tone "concerning his motive we believe it is most likely due to his involvement in the victim wing during the incident concerning inmates Dawson and Rantin."

"I thought there were no survivors in the victim wing after they all killed each other?" Cane, questioned, he had seen them die himself, he had even killed a few on his own

"There were no surviving members of the victim wing staff" the voice clarified "Mr. Donald was not part of the staff, he had an accident during the incident involving an encounter with Miss Rantin that resulted in him being left unconscious nearby the elevator to the sublevel. While we are not fully aware of miss Yuu's abilities it is likely that he was exposed to a small level of her pharamones that have only recently begun to take over his mind"

"Do we have any idea where he could be taking her?" He asked as he circled the block, trying to spot any sign of Akari or Donald

"He has no family or property nearby, however, there are a number of abandoned buildings in your area, that he may seek shelter in" proposed the man on the other end "our other guard squads are presently searching through them now if you wish to join them"

"Alright, thank you for the assistance mister?"

"Chadwick" the voice answered

"Thank you Chadwick" Cane finished, hanging up and speeding towards the coordinates he had just been sent

His destination was a small abandoned hotel, the most likely destination for a kidnapper to stop due to its level of comfort and multiple rooms and facilities to live and hide in. making his way there he had to speed through multiple red lights and stop signs, causing some anger amongst the other drivers and even resulting in a short police tailing before the policeman quickly stopped upon seeing the Barlow family insignia engraved on the side of his car

Pays to be mafia

Arriving at the hotel Cane quickly hopped out of his car, grabbing the handgun and a few rounds of ammunition out of his glove box as he did so. Stepping slowly towards the front of the building and watching the windows in his peripheral vision he slowly made his way over to the front door. Upon reaching it and giving it i slight push, the door slid open, its lock shattered and left hanging like a Halloween decoration.

However, what interested him far more were the dark lines of dirt and a few drops of blood that were marking the ground

Drag tracks, someone, likely unconscious had been dragged through here, held up by the armpits, letting their shoes drag across the ground and leaving a trail.

An amature mistake honestly

When dragging a victim or corpse, leaving a trail is the last thing you want to do, carrying them on your shoulder is always a better alternative, leaves them less room to run away or leave breadcrumbs

Tiptoeing through the halls and past the reception Cane kept an ear out for any sound possible, following the marks through hall and room until eventually reaching the second floor where he could now make a distinct sound

A slight rumbling sound, more a moan than a buzz, it changed in volume randomly and seemed to drop in and out frequently and it was only after following the noise for a few minutes that Cane realized what it actually was

Crying, muffled, and panicked
