Chapter Thirty Four: "Betrayal"

Beth Novák.

Paperwork piles up on my desk and I let out a weary sigh.

Who would have thought that being an angel consisted of classifying thousands of souls and creating their perfect heaven for them?

Who would have thought that God had created us just for this?

Who would have thought that that was the wish of a lazy God? He definitely won't do this job, all angels know that will be too much for him.

And he created us in such a way that we would not feel tired so that we could do the same task over and over again for all eternity. A boring and unpaid job. We gain absolutely nothing by doing that. My reward is supposed to be the happiness it brings me to lead these souls to a new, better life, but I don't feel any of that. There was a time when I did feel that satisfaction seeing all those souls out of the reach of Lucifer and Lilith, but not anymore. Everything changed the day I came down to Earth to become Adam's supervisor.
