New experiences, greater capacity

A year had passed quickly and Light was already four years old. Both her training and her mana core training progressed to a surprising level.

Light's appearance had also changed a lot, both her size and her muscular build were taking effect. He was taller now, and her muscles stood out a bit. Her hair was also a bit longer.

Light had improved with the sword and with melee combat, because her body had grown more she was constantly growing, fluidity and adapting to blows and movements were getting better.

His progress was such that he could now personally practice with his father. Light could move and dodge one or another blow from Albert, besides that he was still smaller, making low shots was not a problem.

The thing was when he had to jump to get a high blow. But despite that, Light performed well, sometimes he managed to twist his body avoiding a blow or two, but then he couldn't do more.

Even so, Albert congratulated him on his good coordination and his good progress, his son would undoubtedly be someone strong. After practicing the melee style, at the end of the morning, Light used the sword.

For him it was much more comfortable and easy to fight with the sword, since with it, he could reach other places that with his bare hand could not. He was faster and had better precision when it came to a lunge or a cut. Albert sometimes appreciated that the sword was made of wood, if not, he would already have one or another cut.

That was his good progress with Light's combat practice all year. As for his mana core formation, that was going very well.

The nucleus of him already had the shape of a small sphere, it only remained to solidify the nucleus of mana so that he could awaken him. Light calculated that in a year he could already have the nucleus of him ready, even better than the rest.

A core can be both high-level and low-level. Everything depended on the individual who formed it. If his level of mana absorption or poor control of forming the nucleus was unstable, then it would be reduced to a low level.

But if your perception, absorption method and a good management of core formation is used correctly and is high, the better the core will be at the time of awakening.

Light had the advantage of awakening his consciousness at such a young age and being able to learn as a young man. Light not only thought about him, nor did the Helleans boy also have almost the same capacity for perception and his level of consciousness was high, surely he could also do the same soon.

Although, the boy's first impressions didn't get much of Light's attention. The only thing that struck him as curious was the boy's appearance. He wasn't the same as his father's, but Light didn't know the mother either, so he couldn't judge him too much.

Light although he avoided thinking about the boy, it was difficult for him to ignore him since he was the only one with a talent almost equal to his, the children of his age were not the same at all.

So Light saw Helleans as a partner even though they don't practice together and don't know each other at all.

Light spent the days training him and training his core. He also showed good performance in learning new manners and new things thanks to his mother.

Light out of curiosity asked how Susan had so many books and how she knew about various things that her father did not.

Ailyn replied that it was because Susan was a duke's witch doctor back then.

"The same earl that Zirion's father worked with?" She - she couldn't help but relate Light to the same duke, for some strange reason she sensed it.

"Do you know about that?" I ask with a already-know-how tone, Albert surely told him something.

"Just a little, my father didn't tell me much," Light replied.

Ailyn kept commenting on him. Susan was the witch doctor in the earl's family when he was young. Due to the earl having an accident, she happened what happened and Susan obtained many books on basic knowledge.

That is why despite being a small town far from the cities, they still had some learning, older people most of all.

So Susan also got the basic magic book. The town was not founded as long as Light thought.

The town is 41 years old since it was founded. That is why its progress was not so advanced, that and because it did not have and still does not have the necessary support from the other cities.

After knowing and understanding that, Light continued to learn from him and the days went by again like a calm blizzard on a sunny day.

Light was lying down and tired as he breathed heavily. The reason was that he had had an intense practice fight with his father. Albert was just a little tired, he was sitting near the big tree and his son was next to him.

Albert while looking at his son, remembered the part where Light made him fall to his knees and could give him a blow to the forehead.

Albert was going to give Light a lunge but the boy at that moment crouched quickly and with agility and speed, his son managed to get next to him and Light took the opportunity to give him a strong thrust in the calf.

When Albert feels the pang, he winces and falls to his knees from the pain. Light quickly jumps up and stands in front of his father, Albert noticed the sudden attack but did not have time to defend himself, thus receiving a strong blow to the forehead.

Right now the poor father had a red mark between his eyebrows.

Light also remembered that part and couldn't help but laugh, his father had instantly complained about the pain and asked for time.

"Father, you're a crybaby," Light teased.

"Let me hit you on the forehead to see who cries the most," his father answered with an ironic grimace.

"You can't, I'll tell my mother if you do, and you know she beats you," his son teased him again.

The two of them just laughed and that's how Light spent his morning. Albert went into the house with his son and then took a shower and had lunch and then left. He had to watch the food field all afternoon with another guard.

Apparently, a burrow of wild ants appeared near the forest and they are stalking food from the fields.

Light wanted to go with his father, but he responded.

"You're still a bit young, son, maybe next year I'll take you one day with me." Albert rubbed Light's hair as he said that. Plus, it could be dangerous this season. It is better to avoid accidents.

So Albert put on his uniform and left while he said goodbye to his wife.

Light did not argue much, he did not like to reproach his parents a lot, after all, they have raised him well and they have not done anything wrong so that he feels rejection or disgust in his decisions.

His parents take good care of him, and he appreciates that very much. That is why Light wants to grow strong so that he can take care of them in the future.

Susan also gives him affection whenever she saw him, she also praised his progress with his father. Even his mind still doesn't suspect that Light is already about to form his mana core. If she started inquiring and advising Light, it would be at the age of five.

But Light was already about to awaken his mana core.

Light did not want to spend the afternoon meditating and forming his core, rather he decided to go to the patio and continue practicing with the sword and with the doll. Seeing that his father saw him very young and that it could be dangerous for him to go out, Light decided to improve his performance in the fight.

Of course, in learning magic he could also help, but that was still lacking, so he decided to improve on what he had the most knowledge and what he was best familiar with. In the sword and hand-to-hand fighting.

Light before going to the patio, went up to his room for his wooden sword and in that way he wanted to go to the room where Susan had her books.

The little boy wanted to see if Susan happened to have books on swords and bare-handed fighting. After searching and searching, he finally found a somewhat dusty brown book.

The book was somewhat heavy and had as its title: The Guide of a Good Gentleman.

Light took a quick look at it and saw that there were sword techniques there and there were also many types of fighting, called martial arts. Light got excited and went down to the patio to practice what was in the book.

Light, after reading and putting into practice the first pages of the book, decided to continue until six in the afternoon, which was the time when his father arrived. The book was divided into two sections, the first was on sword techniques, uses and advice, and the second was on fighting and martial arts.

Light decided to keep the book hidden from his father and practice when he was not around in order to surprise him when fighting against him.

No doubt his father would be surprised. Albert arrived at six in the afternoon, a bit dirty and tired. Apparently three wild ants appeared. They were lucky that all three were worker ants, but they still had a bit of trouble.

Fighting three ants that were nearly the size of the average adult, well, it was exhausting for people who couldn't use magic.

Just as there were people who became magicians, there were also people who could not. When someone reached the age of 10 and saw no trace of the shadow of a mana core, he knew that he could never obtain it.

As Light had read very well. A subject could begin to absorb and form its nucleus unconsciously at the age of 5 years, when the body already felt able to support and adapt to mana.

When the subject was 10 years old, the nucleus had already taken its shape, the only thing missing was to solidify the nucleus and reinforce its base, which took two more years.

When they reached the age of 10 and saw nothing, it was because the body itself did not feel capable of absorbing mana and supporting it since the beginning.

Even so, the human being did not sit idly by and despite that, they left for the learning of weapons and combat.

At the very least, those with rigorous training could defend themselves against weaker creatures.

Light spent two weeks practicing with the new book, since the ant appearances were more frequent, Light's father had to stand guard even in the morning on several occasions.

Light could only take advantage of those moments to learn new things. Ailyn would sometimes show concern about her husband, but Albert would tell her that it was normal for ants to appear at this time of year.

Ants search for food to start storing for the winter. Their survival mechanism forces them to go out and search for food.

"The other years past weren't like this," Ailyn added.

"Because the ants made their burrows away from the town," Albert said. Maybe they did it this year because the forest was a bit full of them and they couldn't find food.

"They are lucky that it is only a burrow, and that the ants go first for the food from the field, if there was nothing, they would most likely attack the villagers," said Susan, who was sitting in a corner of the room.

"That's why we're trying to defend the fields, darling, take it easy, as Oragon has put together a plan to get rid of them."

With that last comment, Ailyn felt a little more relieved. After night fell and they made dinner, everyone went to sleep except Light.

After the talk that his parents had, now the boy felt more driven to improve much more. That's why Light spent the whole night solidifying his core and reading more about magic.
