Chapter 60: Surrounded Uchiha

A play park situated in Konoha.

The evening sun was sinking from the blue sky.

"I have to go home."

Naruto looked at Shikamaru stunned, he reluctantly said,

"But, we only played for while..."

The lazy Nara elaborated,

"I'm not sure why, but my mum said that I have to go back early."

He continued with a displeased expression.

"She threatened to force me into extra stamina training."

"Me too."

Choji said,

"Dad said we were going to have a feast today. If I'm not back early then there won't be any left."

Kiba looked a little surprised and said,

"Doesn't seem like a coincidence, the old hag told me the same thing."

Seeing that his new friends were all going home early, he albeit reluctantly trudged under the setting sun.

He decided to go to Ichiraku Ramen on the way home, it was the best restaurant ever, after all.

Perfect to cheer himself up, he could also pick up the fruit basket, Teuchi buys him every week~

On the way there, he noticed that nearly every shop was closed.

"Hmm? Is something happening today?"

Naruto glanced around him in confusion, he felt chills down his spine as he decided to rush home.

"I don't feel well, I guess I can go tomorrow."

Unbeknownst to him, countless shinobi from the Sarutobi and Shimura clans, lay in ambush around his small apartment.

Gradually, genin from the Uchiha clan approached.

What both factions didn't know was that a block of white earth quietly emerged from the floor of their targets house...

On the roof of the Hokage's residential building, Sarutobi Hiruzen stood gazing towards the ruins of the old Uchiha compound.

The sun caused his shadow to elongate.

Ever since, the Nine Tails disaster, the Uchiha clan had been relocated much further away on the southwestern border.

It was impossible to see the Uchiha actively from the center of Konoha.

"Hiruzen... are you going to come with us?"

Homura and Koharu came up from behind him and asked,

"Just in case a fish slips through the net."

Unlike in the original work, they now knew the exact details of the Rebel's plans.

They didn't need to only create a net and hope Itachi got them all.

Although, even with Hiashi's warning, it would be too hard for the executives to gather enough ninja to fight against the Uchiha.

Additionally, because the Uchiha wear much more eager to launch the coup, they hadn't been able to cut down their numbers in advance.

And according to the Hyuga's suspicions the patriarch Fugaku had the Mangekyo.

Hiruzen wanted to prevent too many loses, in the situation where that information turns out to be true.

Puff!

From the end of Hiruzen's pipe a cloud of smoke floated out.

He took the pipe out of his mouth and set it down on the table beside him.

He grabbed the corner of his Hokage robes and threw it aside, revealing a pure black combat uniform.

He said in a deep voice.

"Let's set off."

The Uchiha compound on the outskirts of the village.

The land wasn't small, but right now, it looked empty and spacious.

In roughly the centre of the clan's territory, hundreds of chunin and jonin gathered together.

They made up the majority of the Uchiha's combat power.

Arisu Uchiha, a member of the Uchiha police force said to Fugaku,

"Patriarch, we've already arranged those who are incapable of fighting to sit tight in the Naka shrine."

One of the more radical Uchiha said,

"We've sent 6 genin teams and with 3 Jonin to ensure that we can capture the Nine Tails Jinchuriki. Now, we only need to wait for the signal of the Hyuga clan before we launch a full-scale attack."

Fugaku nodded absentmindedly, he stared at the sunset and muttered,

"They should be here... at this rate the sun will go down..."

Hours later and they still hadn't seen the Hyuga clan.

There was absolutely no sign of a flare or ninja from the fellow clan of Dojutsu wielders.

Another shinobi from the side called Sadao Uchiha, asked concerned.

"Did the elders discover the Hyuga's actions?"

The many ninja present couldn't help but get worried, without the Hyuga the likelihood, they would succeed decreased a lot.

"Patriarch! I think we should wait for the Hyuga clan. They are a valuable asset if we want to come out victorious. We can send a few Chunin to investigate what went wrong."

The fodder, Yoshifumi Uchiha, suggested,

Fugaku was about to agree after a moment of deliberation.

However, an angry voice rang out from ontop of a house.

"There's no need. The Hyuga clan is much smarter and know where their boundaries!"

The hundreds of ninja looked over and recoiled in shock.

Danzo Shimura!

Whoosh!

Hundreds of shinobi wearing animal masks and black Anbu uniforms surrounded them.

"Fugaku, how could you betray your allies! Your comrades in arms! The people you've fought alongside for 30 odd years! I can't believe it!"

Among the army of Anbu, Sarutobi Hiruzen walked over to them slowly with a distraught expression on his face.

"Why can't you consider this from the perspective of others? You're just being selfish."

"I don't want to hear it! Don't give me that nonsense of yours."

Fugaku shouted angrily,

"After playing those same lines on repeat for over 50 years, don't you think it's time to put an end to this!m

He was fed up with this hypocrite.

They no longer had any choice and as such, verbal arguments were useless,

"Listen to my orders! We will kill anyone who stands in our path!"
