As Garrett's soul is tossed into the womb of the green haired woman, we hear screams and doctors trying to calm the woman. After almost 15 minutes of child birth, baby cries could be heard getting progressively louder. Sinking into the bed, the green haired woman sags back and coughs up blood before speaking to the nearest doctor. "aghk.. aghk... please let me hold him for a minute." the woman says. Quickly cutting the embelical cord before swiping gunk off of the baby, the doctor hands the woman her child before urgently explaining "Makino-San, we need to get a blood transfusion going immediately! You're going into shock with a high possibility of dying as you are!!"
Taking a moment to breathe the woman named Makino turns while leaking blood to say " I.. know.. I won't live past today... I just want to say some final words to my precious child before I die." while crying serenely. The doctor ignores the woman and urges his aides to get as many fluids as possible to keep Makino alive.
Makino seeing the doctor ignore her, turns to her child to have a first and final moment. "Im so sorry I won't be around... aghk... aghk.. you will probably be alone for a long time and that's okay. Aghk.. I know you will be lonely and sad to not have a family... aghk, but you can build your own... find someone to love and aghk... do what you want in life... and be what you want... I love you so much... I don't want to see you until you've had great grandkids.... aghk aghk... goodbye..... my..... li...ttle.....zor..o..." puking up some blood Makino rubs her baby's back as she slowly breathes her last breath. Upon feeling her heartbeat stop the baby quickly starts crying as loud as possible as the doctors try and bring their patient back to life. Seeing as they were unsuccessful, they take the baby and wrap it up in blankets.
Hours later we look upon the scene of a rundown building with a sign reading "Orphanage" from above the front door. Seeing the building one would think that the building had been abandoned. At the entrance of the building we can hear the sound of a baby crying loudly. The baby has green tufts of hair the color of grass. Looking even closer we can spot a small envelope with the name Roronoa Zoro written in bold letters.
After 5 minutes of crying the orphanage door finally opens revealing a short old lady with grey hair and glasses on the bridge of her nose. Looking quite startled she picks up the baby zoro. Immediately he stops crying, and quickly falls asleep, causing the old lady to gain a tender look seemingly losing age before gaining it back as she quickly looks around for any adult or reason as to why the baby was there. Seeing the letter she carefully scans the name before opening the letter. After reading it she suddenly understood why the baby was here. Taking a second to check out Zoro again she finally says "I see. So that's why your at this old rundown place instead of a better orphanage. I guess old prejudices never die." from what the letter explained, the baby Zoro was here because of early signs of a quirk showing. That wouldn't be bad if it wasn't seemingly a mutant type. The doctors had contacted all the orphanages but because of the typing, nobody wanted him in case he turned into an ugly creature down the line. She was ashamed to think that this cute baby wouldn't be adopted because of such an insignificant reason.
After taking a minute to think about it she finally sighed before saying "It looks like granny chio will be taking care of you from now on little one." Taking a step inside, Chio closes the door before walking inside. She was quite excited to be raising another child. Even though she was closing in on 70 years old she wanted to take care of another child as her own children had died leaving the orphanage to her. After cleaning zoro she prepares an old crib that would work for now, it would do the trick until she was able to get better supplies. Taking care of a baby was no small task so she needed to be ready. She had no idea that over the next decade she would come to love this baby as if it were her own flesh and blood. Looking back, she would never regret it either.
