4 Years

Four years had passed quickly and with it had come many challenges for granny chio. Little zoro was a quick learner in almost everything. He was also a lazy kid but she knew when the time was serious then so was he. Seemingly gifted in every subject, she delighted in teaching him to walk, speak, write, and many more things. Initially she was sad that they lived so far out in the country. She wanted zoro to have as many friends as possible but when she brought up he had gently told her that he was perfectly content with just her and their little town. She had thought he was just trying to cheer her up or something as no kid wanted to be alone. she had know way of knowing that he was being honest.

Garrett had finally made the transition from his previous life to this one. It was hard at first as he was very disoriented from memories coming out of nowhere at the age of 1 years old. His old memories slowly slipping in with this new life. By the time he was 2 and a half the memories had properly integrated causing a great shock to come over him. Although he had gotten his memories, it wasn't until his third year that he finally pulled himself together to interact with the seemingly gentle old woman that had been taking care of him.

At first he was terrified as even though she was small, to a baby she was a giant. After cautiously probing her he finally opened up to her, as she was the only other person in the orphanage. Anybody would open up if they only ever saw one person. He came to love her as she would sing him to sleep if he cried and was always very gentle with him. Even though he was three he knew that he loved her, it had been so long since he had this feeling of family.

As another year went by he began to speak more fluently and learned to write, he knew he was almost 4 so he had asked chio about the powers he had seen in the small town, mostly everybody had some form of enhancement towards a farmers life or something else equally as mundane.

She explained that the powers were called quirks and that hers was a small power of making flowers, that when made as a tea, caused minor health benefits such as healthier skin tone and a calming effect. Thinking on it, he asked to try some. She responded with " Let's wait until after you get your own quirk. I'm not completely sure if it is safe to give you my herbal tea until after your body stops changing so much. A child's body changes much during and after a quirk appears. It could cause some side effects that I'm not qualified to deal with." she said with a tender smile as she runs her fingers through his grass colored hair.

After thinking on it for a couple minutes Zoro finally responds "OK, grandma. When do you think I'll get my quirk? Is it dangerous?" even though he already knew the answer he still wanted to hear her explain it incase he missed something important. Chio says "It will come on your fourth birthday. We will take a trip to the fields in case it is dangerous. For now, tell me about your day!" Garrett answers back "Yea it was great I played....."
