Chapter Sixteen — Realization (2)

At The Eudoria Beach

In Evander

Caitlyn decided to go to the popular Eudoria Beach to celebrate one of her friend's party. Joaquin Kefir who happens to be the son of the prime minister of Greater Betyria was celebrating his birthday at the Eudoria Beach. He wanted to make his eighteenth birthday one of a kind. He invited Caitlyn over because of the good business relationship their fathers had.

While the party was going on, drinks were popped and foods were all over the place. Caitlyn really had a good time partying with her friends but she wasn't intact. Some parts of her still dawdled to meet someone.

Garbed in a sea foam floral patterned bikini inside a light pink sheer robe, she could see the unruly waves of the sea and the breeze blazing thru the tall coconut trees. Her slack buns were now let loose in the breeze and her robe was now soaring making her look so hot at that moment.

Ever since she came in contact with him, things have been running lately in her mind. She could not concentrate fully in her works and her parents noticed that. She was so immersed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice when Joaquin sat close to her, staring at her with his dusky black eyes. She stared at the horizon with wistful eyes as if she was imagining and thinking about something with blushes blistering on her brown cheeks and unfamiliar smiles on her lips.

"Hmph! What are you thinking about?" Joaquin asked under his gruff breath. Just hearing his voice at a sudden and unexpected stint, Caitlyn got startled and her heart soared out of her ribcage. After she had calmed her breath and settled herself, she turned to scowl at Joaquin who derived glee in giving her surprise attacks.

Caitlyn then realized that giving him unhappy looks would not solve anything, she decided to snub him. Joaquin wasn't surprised when Caitlyn was snubbing him, which was not the first or second or third time she was doing it, Joaquin has even lost count of how Caitlyn snub him every now and then but he just seemed okay with it. Passing a glass of blueberry martini to Caitlyn while supping his slowly.

"I've been studying you for quite some time now…something's off with you." He snickered while playing with the glass cup in his right hand and the left hand on the sand to support his weight. There was a deafening silence between the two before Joaquin talked again.

Caitlyn then turned to Joaquin who chortled. "It's none of your fucking business! I wanna have some time to myself 'cause I have so much problems to attend to." She said without looking at him. In a swift movement, she stood and walked close to the shore of the sea as she took the drink in a gulp.

The pleased Joaquin walked closer while resting his hands behind his head, staring at the endless horizons. "A problem shared is a problem solved, do you mind sharing with me? I can be of help."

Caitlyn then walked further to the seashore and the seawater touched her warm feet before sweeping back to and fro. She felt a bit relaxed seeing that Joaquin had gone back to the party but still had his murky eyes on her. She wondered what the guy wanted from her…maybe it's because of the connection between their fathers that drove him gaga or because she was the first female friend he ever had.

Intervals passed by as she closed her eyes and let the cool sea breeze brush past her. Her blank face was now swept with overflowing emotions. Unknowingly and impulsively, her mind floated back to past events that happened between her and Jayden. The few times she talked with Jayden at school and online, the embarrassing moment with him at Otro Mundo Hotel with Desha Sinclaire as the only spectator and the times she was present when his family talked business with other families. Her dull face lightened up as she remembered those priceless moments.

Back then in Skye Evander High School, Caitlyn Emery Jones had always been keen on Jayden Bennett Flintstone and fancied him like every other girls do. She imagined herself with the handsome chestnut-colored hair guy together in such a romantic scene. She quickly snapped out of her daze when she remembered the nasty words her elder brother had told her when she made her family know of her feelings towards Jayden and would want to take these feelings to higher levels.

"It's of no use crushing on such a hard-nosed tyrant who doesn't know his left from his right. Ugh! I never knew you had such bad taste…what about the nobles' sons? Or better still, choose one of the beautiful dudes in the Strauss Family…!"

Young Caitlyn then retorted to her elder brother that had a flash of anger in it. "Seriously!? It's worth a trial tho…I can't give up when I'm not on the go. Cowards like you give up so easily, learn to man up and face your problems rather than running around and throwing blames on people."

"Whatever! You'll just end up giving your fragile heart to a slaughterer and get it back chopped into uncountable chunks…sighs…what a proactive but defiant kid sis I have…" He said with a spark of sluggishness in it as he passed by the heartbroken lassie. The surprised Caitlyn who was expecting deluges of praises instead got the opposite from her elder bro.

She tossed herself on the downy chaise lounge that was pastel gray in color. The material that was very smooth to touch was exquisite but it was very rare to see such material. She looked so down with her droopy shoulders and tired eyes. She really loved Jayden but could not get him. She longing to stay by Jayden's side was just as pouring water on a rock and expecting a tree to pop out, which will never happen.

Remembering the hurtful moments, a sigh of despair bolted from her thin mouth. She was now hopeless and also clueless on the next step to take – whether to move on and face her studies seriously, have another guy…or…keep believing that Jayden would love her very soon. The option was up to her and it was her life after all, she could make decisions that thinks would benefit her.

Heaving a sigh, she shuffled back to the party to cool off her head. With this, Joaquin had a sly smirk on his lips seeing that Caitlyn was coming closer to the party ground.
