The quest for a new wife

The guards delivered the message as it was sent and appeared immediately in the Palace.

Hala was still seated waiting for him in the Palace hall.

Did you deliver it as I sent it? Yes your majesty, good of you.

"How can the king take pleasure in doing wrong, has he forgotten we are his elders?" he called meetings abruptly, no information, Poker lamented. Still singing the king's lackadaisical attitude when Mr Mik came in. This king acts funny day by day.

"I wish his government was accommodating, we would have been eulogising him every day, but he never cared about our praise rather he did it himself".

"What a dead living man he is?" Mik said to Poker.

In the kingdom of animals, no lion reigns eternally, death is inevitable to any living creature, I think Hala forgot that?

"Does he care about death?" Mr Dia asked.

"A day shall come when the kingship will not be in his possession, he will never have an idea of its government, he shall be forever forgotten only if we take the bull by the horn", Mr Coaker said.

"We shall have the day when nobody will oblige to his debilitating acts and decree by then we should have it at the back of our mind that we have drawn the battle line with him, Mr Coaker said".

"Let us go and hear his nonsense, as usual, it is almost 9:am, '' Dia told his fellow men.

They arrived at the Palace some minutes past nine but Hala was already out of patience.

"I can choose to do anything with your lives; nobody will seek revenge", Hala thundered at his council members.

"The gods might be calm doesn't mean he should be worshipped with water".

All the men were in abject silence, any atom of words from anyone without meaning to the king can serve him his death.

You all can sit, "thanks your majesty they chorus", thank your rubbish selves he replied to them.

Poker wanted to explain the reason for their transient lateness, "yes you hobo what did you have to perforate from your rough mouth?"

Poker does not give an answer but regrets why he stood up. He couldn't spill a word because his life was still precious to him.

Lila was in Hala room listening to all the insults her husband was raining on the old men. She could not help the scene because she was the fabricator of all that was happening.

"I must send an apology letter to my father for my misconduct that led to their abuse", Lila said.

"In our last meeting, I called for peace in this kingdom, but it seems we are too foolish to sleep and work with peace".

"Therefore I want to withdraw my peace.

All of you lied to me after I pronounced peace in the kingdom".

The men were looking strange, I know all of you will pretend but I am glad I caught all of you in the act.

"Your highness, how have we lied to you?"

"None of us has the enfronty to do that,'' Mr. Mik said.

" You don't have the enfronty to do that but have it to come late to my Palace?"

Mik became dumped as he had nothing to say.

"The final say of the kingdom is in the hands of the great lion, he alone has the right to do whatever he wants, no man born of a woman can rub shoulder with him, if he dares death is the result, your highness look with mercy on us and withdraw not your peace", Mr poker said.

Hala didn't think twice to tell his men why his sudden change of mind.

"We made the law together but I am the law, therefore I have decided to detach myself from you today by the auspicious act of a lunatic in my Palace".

"Who should that be?" The men's chorus.

"I wouldn't go further than this".

"Another reason I called this meeting is, I want to have a second wife. King Hala demanded a second because of his smart agenda to overthrow his neighbouring kingdom and he wanted this wife from kanshawanga".

Your highness, "the queen was not barren and her character is welcomed by the whole kingdom, why then should the lion seek another wife?" Poker asked.

"I have the best wife in this kingdom but as a king, it is not honourable of me to have just a wife. I want to stretch my peace to the neighbouring kingdom, by doing so I need to marry a woman from there".

Lila evacuated Hala chamber with tears on hearing this.

The king's men were cold on hearing this, but no one dared to advise him against his desire.

"The major dignity of a great king is wives, my king as far as life exists, is you are free to flood the Palace with any number of women you want", Mr Ria said.

Hala was painted immediately with a sweet smile on hearing this from Mr Ria and he said: "you shall always be my favourite, I shall one day reward you beyond your expectation".

Your highness, "when shall we bring in this lucky woman from kanshawanga?" Mr Dia asked.

"The lucky woman is yet to be born, when I find her I shall break the news to us but soon we shall see her, let me first tell my wife about it", Hala told his cabinet members.

The king's men were happy because all the paramount tools needed to get him out of the throne were becoming complete gradually.

"I shall be travelling to Kanshawanga at an unknown date to make my intention known to them".

"What shall be the fate of our daughter who is married to him, this is a different breed from Keith, I am yet to be convinced if he is a seed of Keith", Poker said to Mr Dia.

Dia found the words of Poker nourished with wisdom and truth.

"The trip that will take more than a day does not need hurriedness in preparation, one day we shall find out the truth, Dia said".

I shall take my leave to say hi....to Mik before I get home, okay, "your wine is still fresh in the glass".

"You know I don't play with this kind of wine. I must sip it to the base,'' Poker replied Dia and both men erupted into laughter.
