Breakfast passed in silence. Not one of them dared to speak. The only contact any of them made was the occasional glance at one another.
Once they had all finished, Julianna collected all the plates and cutlery, and took them over to the sink to wash up.
It was then that a knock at the door surprised them all. Getting up from where he was sat, Marcus went to answer it. As soon as he opened the door, he wished that he hadn't.
"I would like to speak to my children please." Victor requested in a posh tone.
"I'm sorry but your children are not here right now." Marcus answered.
"May I ask where I could find them?" Victor asked.
"Sorry but I have no idea where they went to." He lied.
"Well do me a favour and let them know that I would like to see them when they return please." The man requested, sounding far too polite.
"I will.' Marcus said.
"Thank you." Victor concluded before turning on his heel and leaving.
