Chapter 27 Chapter 27

The night was deep, the silvery moon was dotted with the dark blue night sky, and the naughty stars were running around her, chasing and playing. The stars would hold the moon eventually, and the moon would not be lonely tonight.

Just like, Lucifer would hold me again in his arms and my heart wouldn't be weeping in lonliness.

My heart was pounding with joy of seeing him again. It sounded absurd but I was finally falling for my captor, for the man who had done deeds to turn my world upside down. For the man who had gave me nothing but pain. His reason were preposterous and no excuse could ignore the fact he had successfully demented me but this, this heart of mine couldn't help but warm up of the thought of someone loving me.

Spending my life with lies confining me, was a terrible way to live. Mathew, the man I believed to be my first love, Falcon, the friend I lost for nothing and my parents, who still didn't knew their daughter was alive, wasn't it pathetic. And at last when someone truly started loving me, not ignoring the fact the it was same man who was responsible for this, was something else, a little between anxiousness and delightfulness.

But there were other reason too, like my child. No one could protect my child other than Lucifer himself. A stronger, dangerous and terrifying man like him excatly knew how to keep his own child safe. I had seen the desperation in his eyes, the love for me and for our child. He might had not said it to my face ever, but I knew he had suffered a lot.

Maybe his childhood was the reason of him being like this.

His little fragments of past I had seen in my dreams were terror-stricken.

I sighed.

"Something doesn't feel right." Came a voice from my side, his voice was slightly fermented. I frowned and turned my head towards him.

"How do you know?" I asked.

Michael sighed and pressed the brakes before parking it at side. Trees towered over us. His brows were slightly furrowed, a deep frown decorating his forehead as white silver hairs fell over his forehead.

"Don't know. Just a gut feeling." Now that he had initiated the topic, I myself was feeling quiet restless.

"Maybe it's just weather." I exhaled and rubbed my arms. My eyes were glued on road as Michael drove. My eyes widened when a sharp shadow passed through the window. I screamed as the car tilted and sound of tires screeching fell on my ears and a loud bang was heard. In panic, my head hit the side window and Michael's groans halted.

The car just crashed.

My eyes tightly closed together, when a sharp beam of light blinded my vision.

"Look what we've got here?"

I slowly tried to open my eyes, a sharp pain in my head like I was hit with a truck. The sound sounded awfully familiar. My brows knitted together, eyes painfully open when I saw a lurking shadow of man in front of me.

My eyes widened.

In front of me stood the monster. Nicholas Volkov. The white shirt of his was deep shade of red, covered with blood. A sharp cut was decorated on his? face, starting from his head, moving towards his cheek.

"Hello, beautiful. Long time no see. Did you received my letter?" He chuckled amusedly. Realisation hit me. Lucifer didn't send me any letter, it was Nicholas all along.

I swallowed the fear.

My eyes glanced towards right when a slight movement happened. It was night, I could barely make out what was happening. But whatever was happening was not good.

"Ah..." A loud groan escaped from Michael's mouth when one of other man landed a punch to his jaw. Michael looked wounded. He had blood all over his body. And the car was crashed agaisnt the tree.

I was too shocked to say anything.

This wasn't good. This type of situation wasn't in my wish list. Nicholas was smirking, his eyes shinning with evil glint in them. My hands protectively moved towards my swollen belly as he took a step in my direction.

My own scream startled me when he grabbed my arm, yanking me up.

"H-He won't spare you." Michael's strained voice pierced through my ears. His breathing seemed shallow, coming out in pants.

Nicholas's smirk widened into grin and his hands left my arm and wrapped around my hairs as he yanked me forward, fisting my hairs in his fist. I winced.

His face was too close, the proximity scared me.

"The time he'll find her.... it'll be too late for him." Nicholas held my gaze and I left stunned for a second when his eyes sparkled with golden hues in them.

I was harshly dragged away from the car, my futile attempts were careless, he had his hold on my hairs and I was too weak to struggle.

My screams could be heard.

"Leave me!"

I couldn't saw his expressions but I knew he was delighted. I looked over my shoulder when I heard a blood curdling scream coming from Michael as the one of Nicholas's man plunged a knife in Michael's stomach.

My eyes widened and I gaped followed by a scream that seemed to be my own.

Victoria paced anxiously, her hands gently stroking Karl's hairs, who had his head on her shoulder as he snored lowly. She waited two more minutes when a startled looking guard entered the hall. She gave him a confused look.

"L-Lord L-"

The guard stuttered, when few beads of sweat covered his face. Victoria frowned and motioned him to continue.

The guard took a deep breath.

"Lord Lucifer is here." Victoria left stunned. Her frown deepened.

Lucifer couldn't be here. He was in Reynes and he send a letter-

Her mind paralysed.

She immediately ran towards the doors when Karl snuggled into her neck.

"Shhh..." She patted his head and stopped when the door of the hall room opened. Red eyes. That's what she could see, pair of bloodied hands and tall frame of Lucifer.

Lucifer entered the hall room. His red eyes looking everywhere in search for Sarah. His hands bloodied, and his tall frame making him look more intimidating. Draven steeped inside as he gave a curt nod to guard nearby who left them.

"Wh-what're you doing here?" Victoria asked startled. Her hands sweating profusely.

Draven gave her an absurd look before speaking.

"What do you mean? Were you expecting someone else?" Draven raised an intriguing brow.

Victoria shook her head dismissively.

"But! You summoned her back. Why are you here, when she is going to you?" Victoria looked at lucifer, who gave her same confused look. He held her gaze and took a step towards her.

"Where is she?" Lucifer's hoarse voice startled her.

Victoria swallowed when weight of reality weighed down on her.

"She's gone." She muttered.

Lucifer frowned.

"Where has she gone? Didn't I told you to keep eyes on her?" Lucifer grumbled.

"We received a letter....from you. Ateast that's what we thought initially. But looks like we were mocked." Victoria said. Fear slowly swallowing her.

"Letter? What letter? I didn't send any letter? Why the fuck would I do that?" He scoffed in disappointment.

Victoria quickly retracted the piece of paper from her side pocket and handed it to him.

Lucifer's red eyes slowly read every word, his anger resurfacing with every word. The time he was finished with letter, his veins were protruding out.

Draven took a sneak leak at letter and frowned.

"Cheesy much." He sighed.

"Where are they now?" Lucifer asked tensely, his body shaking slightly, fearing the worse and expecting the unexpected.

"I-I don't know...they were heading to Reynes." Victoria stuttered. The new panic rose inside her. She knew she should've beem more careful, she should had read the letter and should had recognised that those words never belonged to Lucifer.

A slight shiver danced down her spine when she realised that she had lost one lover, the father of her child and she wasn't going to lost another one.

Lucifer let out a ferocious growl before he rushed towards the gates. Draven immediately followed him.

"We can't just attack him!" Draven shouted, but Lucifer ignored his words, blinded by anger, his claws descended as his fangs elongated.

"I'll fucking kill that bastard!" A loud growl reverberated through him as he immediately turned into a wolf and lept towards the forest. Draven looked at where Lucifer had vanished as he let out a defeated sigh.

"This is not good."

"This is good. Exactly like I had initially planned."

Nicholas grinned as he placed unconscious body of Sarah on bed. He knew he had done enough to scare the poor soul, but it was necessary.

"A tribrid child she's carrying. Don't you think, the spell is dangerous for her?" One of Nicholas's man said. The brown-chocolate skin man had white hairs, braided to his sides and a large pale grey coat on his body. He adjusted the bowl in his hands as he looked at Nicholas.

"Bullshit. The spell will kill the child, she would be unharmed," Nicholas quipped. Placing his right thumb on the blade, he made a deep incision as droplets of blood dropped inside the bowl untidly.

"Moreover, it would be a waste to kill my spoil of war." Nicholas smirked looking down at Sarah's unconscious frame.

"But the war is yet to start, My King." Balasader reminded him. Years of experience, but he still didn't quiet understand why was this necessary. He knew Nicholas was digging his own grave.

"I don't care, I've claimed my prize." Nicholas adamantly interjected.

"I still think it's a bad idea-"

"Dont worry, Balasader. I've wounded him." Nicholas grinned proudly.

"That's what I'm worried about, My King. A wounded lion is a dangerous creature. I fear, we might fail." Balasader's comment made Nicholas gritted his teeth.

"I don't know about him, Balasader. But you should fear, not from Lucifer's arrival but for your untimely death, from my hands." He growled.

Balasader apologetically nodded and dismissed with the bowl in his hand. The dread was coming their way, he knew, infact he could sense it. But he wasn't coward to leave his master. If death was mandatory, then he was going to be a martyr, rather than a useless being.

Sarah opened her eyes when bright rays of sun caressed her tired face. It took her few minutes to gather the fragments of her memory before a scream left her mouth.

"That's not a good way to greet your future king, love." Nicholas smirked, his eyes taking in her scared features.

Her mouth opened in shock, the beads of sweat descending down her pale cheeks.

"F-future?" She stammered before continuing. "What're you planning, Nicholas?"

The beating organ in her chest threatened to escape the cage. The surroundings looked strange to her, the atmosphere was chaotic and the man standing in front of her was not favorable.

Nicholas grinned.

"It's nothing for you to worry, sweetheart. But, I must say, I will enjoy taming a sweet soul like yours." His words send her heart on fire with anger and more fear.

The scared features soon turned into scowl as she narrowed her eyes at his audacious comment.

"I won't let you touch me, you bastard. Only because you've succeeded in abducting me, doesn't mean you've any right on me. I'm not yours." She gritted her teeth, her jaw twitched. Her hands curled up in fists.

Nicholas's grin widened as he chuckled lightly.

"Fate's in my hands, if you've failed to notice, cara mia." He looked into her angry choclate eyes and tilted his head to side. "And your fate is in my hands too, along with the abomination inside you."

Sarah protectively wrapped her hands around her swollen, round stomach as Nicholas's eyes moved to where her hands were.

"Lucifer will kill you." She stated.

Nicholas scoffed.

"My hands would be around his throat before he could touch me."

Sarah mockingly chuckled making Nicholas look at her with frustration.

"He's inevitable. He can't be killed." Sarah said. The atmosphere around them became more chaotic, both of them held each other's gaze for a moment when Someone knocked on the door.

Both of them looked towards the door, when Balasader rushed inside.

"My King, there's a problem." He said with ragged breathing. Nicholas raised his brows.

"Our kingdom's under attack."
