George Flack opened the door, expecting to find Aria Grant still sitting by the bed, but to his surprise, as soon as he entered, Aria was already lying on the bed again. How so quickly?
"Are you tired now?"
George sat beside Aria and asked, but she didn't respond at all.
Helpless, George continued, "I've already taken the day off, so I can spend the afternoon with you. We won't cook ourselves, how about this: we'll order takeout. What would you like to eat? Do you feel like having cake?"
But even after saying so much, Aria still remained silent. She wasn't closing her eyes, she was keeping them open, which made George worry. What was wrong with Aria?
"Aria, say something to me, please. I'm really worried!"
Yet even as he spoke to that extent, Aria didn't utter a word. George lowered his head, gently kissing Aria's forehead.
As he slowly rose to his feet, George continued, "So, you really aren't going to forgive me?"
