Me or Her

Faye's POV

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry about everything," I said.

Brianna only looked at me without any emotions on her face. Where was the Brianna that was so lively and talkative from a year ago?

"Okay. I forgive you but that's it."

"Huh?"

"I don't think we can go back to the way it was, Faye. You've been with this woman for three hundred years...you hid her from me for that long and...I don't want another hundred years of that."

"We are nothing."

"Ouch," Jessica acted as if she was in pain. "But she's right. We are not an item or anything. You want to hear it from me? Fine, let me explain this to you-"

"Why would I listen to another sinner?" Brianna glared at her. "Just like Faye, you are an immortal. You were punished to stay here. You think I don't know about your punishment?"

Jessica's nails dug onto her own arm. "Angels really infuriate me. I am willing to tell you everything but you are much more of a bitch than I am."

"I am just being rational, Jessica," Brianna said her name like it was some sort of poison. "Anyway, Faye is tainted now. I don't want her anymore."

"Whoa there," Jessica furrowed her brows. "Tainted? Why are you acting as if she's some used-up object? You know, if I were you? I would listen to the explanation. Are you sure you know what my punishment is?"

"You are supposed to kill someone. You are waiting for that person."

"Exactly. That's the point."

"And what does Faye have to do with this?"

Jessica leaned closer to Brianna, "use your rational head, Angel."

Brianna stared at Jessica then at me then back to Jessica. Then her expression softened. "You're supposed to kill Faye..."

"Bingo! Awesome limbo, huh? Are you still proud as an angel?"

She shook her head, "I don't understand. W-why? But she can't die unless I die."

"And I can't die unless she dies..." Jessica laughed sarcastically. "It's a silly game you, angels, put us into. The heavens must be laughing at us right now."

"I don't get it. If that's the problem then why did you have to have...have...sex with her?"

"That's the payment I'm asking. She can stay at my place, she can stay alive but I get her on the bed," Jessica answered as if she's proud of this mess.

Brianna slapped Jessica's face, "you're disgusting!"

Jessica just shrugged it off, "not the first slap I received from an affair."

Brianna's mouth fell open. "And you!" She pointed at me. "Why didn't you tell this to me? I could've helped you! We could have done something!"

"At that time, it wasn't really an option," I explained. "Your reincarnation at that time was already struggling with problems and...I do not want to add to it anymore. I planned to tell you about your next reincarnation but problems just kept piling up until it was too late to tell you everything and...it's just not right to tell you anymore..."

Brianna brushed her hair back frustratingly. "I am so tired of this, Faye." She leaned her back on the wall. "Faye can't die unless I die. Jessica can't die unless Faye dies...does it has to be your own hands?"

Jessica nodded.

Brianna sighed defeatedly. "How long have you been waiting?"

"Well, I became immortal around five hundred years ago. I search for this woman for two hundred years...and you know the rest."

"Before you arrived...Faye, where have you been staying?"

I shrugged, "anywhere close to you."

"Now that I look back to every memory I have...I never went to your place. You're always the one coming to me."

"Aww, that is sweet," Jessica pouted. "And I am so sick of this already. Can we go home now? Faye, she's alright. You're alright. The day is done!"

But I don't want to leave yet. If I live now, it will take another year or so before I could see her again. That is if I see her again. What if this is her last life that I will see her because she will try her best to avoid me since she hates me?

"Let's go home," Jessica pulled me.

"No, she's coming home with me," Brianna was still glaring at me.

I guess this is better than nothing?

Jessica raised her brows and let go of my arm, "okay. Don't come attacking me."

Brianna switched her attention to me, "follow me."

I nodded.

Brianna and I rode a bus to get to her new place. Her phone has been ringing the whole ride and every time she answers, she had to explain the situation to them: that she was not dead and everything was a misconception because she has the same name as that teenager.

Brianna sighed as she ends the call, "hopefully, that's the last one." She pushed the button to alert the bust driver that we were about to get off.

When we reached her place, it was empty (no one is around). The rooms are still dark.

"Well, this is where my mom and I live now. In this small studio-type condo. I'm surprised that two people fit in here, to be honest." She removed her jacket and hang it over the sofa in the small living room.

My eyes wandered at the new place, "it doesn't feel homely at all."

"That's what I thought. If anything, it felt like a prison."

"Huh."

"Sofia cannot visit me because her place is too far from here. She also can't join me at this new university because of her scholarship..." Brianna smiled but her smile was empty. Her eyes don't have that same joy from before.

What have I done?

I may have not physically killed her but I emotionally murdered her.

"Are you hungry?" She went to the small kitchen that is just in the corner of the whole condo. "I'm not sure if we have anything here though. My mom eats outside. I eat outside or I order take out so...we don't really buy groceries anymore." She opened the refrigerator but there are only water bottles in it. "Well, how do you feel about a non-carbonated and no carbohydrates drink?"

"Do you want to eat out instead? I can hypnotize them again." I suggested.

She took out the water bottle and opened it, "no. I'm too tired to go outside now."

"Teleport is always an option."

She rolled her eyes at me. Suddenly, she's now standing in front of me, pulling me by the collar of my shirt, "don't you understand what I want right now?"

"What?"

"I don't like sharing, Faye."

"I-I don't think I understand this."

"It's either me or her, Faye. We can't keep seeing each other if you have a side chick."

"She's not my side chick. I don't have a side chick. She already explained everything to you. Fine, I am not going to lie. I enjoyed it with her but really, it's nothing. None of it means anything. Being with you is still different."

She pushed me and stared into my eyes.

"Brianna."

She undid the button of her long sleeve polo. "It's either me or her, Faye."
