|Unfortunate Acquaintances |

"Have you ever thought about talking back to them?" I shook my head.

"They have done so much for me, I can't disrespect," I replied.

"Then you are a coward." I frown.

"Why am I a coward?" I asked.

"Because you let you be brainwashed by them because you never reason with any of their decisions. If it means you aren't strong enough to believe yourself, it basically means you are a coward"

The place was empty. There were few men who stopped their work and looked at me as I was being pulled by Ruth towards a door.

"There she is," Ruth said, opening the door. I saw that man who had a gun on my head and looked down. A wave of fear and Goosebumps rose in my body.

They pushed me to sit down on a chair facing him. I never dared to look at him. But I could feel his eyes on me.

"You name?" He asked. I gulp and opened my mouth.

I hesitated, but spoke up, "Eve...", "Eve?" The guy behind me leaned on the desk in front of me. I didn't know what to say further. I was torn between two worlds. I didn't want to speak the name I had been given to them.

"E-Eve Hall," Ruth nodded.

"What were you doing in our area?"

" I-I told you I was trying to find a place to spend the night. I-I thought no one lived there because of the condition of that house," with a frown I tried to answer properly, but I stuttered.

"Eve Hall, Hand me your Id please," Ruth said while the other guy typed away on his laptop.

"Why?" I asked, but as soon so the guy in front of me looked up. That was trouble. He seemed the type of guy anyone one would run away from.

"Leave us, "He said, and for the first time in meeting Ruth, I wanted him to stay near me. But he left not before searching my bag again and grabbing my purse, then checking it and taking my Id.

I stood up backing away as he walked towards me. I shrunk back in the corner of that cabin as he cornered me. "Please...", "Please don't kill me? I will if I find out that you are working under someone I despise.

"You see this gun," I gasp pulling my hands up to my ears to cover them and I started shivering as he pressed it against my chest.

"I will shoot bullets in your gut if you either tell me who you are and are one of their spies, or if you remain silent till I lose my patience"

I whimpered as he pressed it further into my chest and then stepped back. He walked towards the table and sat on his chair. "If I find out Eve isn't your real name, expect to die soon." standing on the corner of the room, I stare at him as he types away again. The door soon opened as Ruth walked in, slamming my Id on the table.

"She's clear, no contacts with any outside men" The man stood up and took my Id stuffing it in his jacket.

"Please let me leave" I whispered, but they heard me. The door slammed open again, another guy walked in, he seemed shocked to see me.

"Who is this?" He said, setting some papers aside.

"Found her in the storehouse," Ruth replied.

"Well, if you are worried about her being a spy she isn't leaving that child alone," I bite my lip. Who was he anyway?

"Take her to the basement." I shook my head and anxiety just shot up.

"Why?" I asked as Ruth held my arm and dragged me out. He pushed me down the stairs and opened the door to reveal a bunk bed and some furniture.

"Why aren't you letting me leave?" I asked quietly. I didn't want to seem like I panicked. Sometimes it just makes people angry.

"Because we still know little about you, once we finally get some answers I will be happy to throw you out of this club"

Ruth walked some steps towards the door but turned around and walked towards me, making me back up. "You don't have to be worried if you aren't lying. We won't hurt a random person like that; we just have to be cautious sometimes. I will get you something to eat, in return, don't run away, okay?" He spoke. I nodded.

"I mean it, don't run out. You will die on the spot."

Of course

He was acting like a human seconds ago and went back to being a monster; As the food sat in front of me, I had a huge debate with myself whether It was poisoned or not, but they wouldn't kill me unless they thought I was a threat. So I ate the food. Every last bite.

As the days passed, I tried to think about what would happen in different cases. What if they didn't want me to live? What if they just left me? Where would I go? What if they contacted the police? And who were these people?

Apart from sleeping there, I had no other choice, yes I tried to search for a way to run away, but the door was locked with no other way out. I closed the bathroom door behind me and looked around. It was an inhospitable place, seemed like no one had been here for a while. Why would they keep a bed in the basement of a club, though? Maybe employees have to stay here sometimes?

I could hear the sound from above. It was a club. It did not surprise me to hear people. I sat on the bed and took my bag; I wasn't expecting anyone down here since Ruth had already given me dinner, so I slipped on a knee-length dress with elbow sleeves, comfortable to sleep in.

It was the dress I would always wear because it was a gift from my mother. Although the dress was a bit worn out in color, I still loved it. My head whipped towards the door in a shock and it slammed open. I gasp standing up and backing up towards a wall as I saw an unknown face. The man had a gun in his hand.

Suddenly there were gunshots heard from above, making me pull my hands towards my chest. I screamed as the guy ran to me and pulled my hair, dragging me towards the stairs. I whimpered, crying as he stopped. His gun was now pressed on my neck, his dirty hands on my waist as he laughed.

I opened my eyes to see that man, He stared at the guy and pointed his gun towards us, I shout as that man dug his hands in my waist.

"One more step and she is dead " The gunshot which came next was so loud, my ears left like they were ringing for the next couple of minutes, I thought I was dead until I felt the guy sliding off me. I breathe heavily as that man walked towards but I shake my head trying to get away. Before I could, he pulled me towards him.

"Stop it, Stay near me. Or get killed, understand?" He stated.

"You are going to kill me anyway, so just leave me alone!" I yelled. There was silence between us for the next minute. We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity until he pushed my back to the wall and coiled his fingers around my neck.

"You want to get killed, fine. I'll do the honors. "I wheeze as he choked me. It made me lose my breath. I held his hand and struggled to breathe when he stopped. I saw the look in his eyes. It was fighting something. His jaw was clenched, his face was filled with fury, but his hand lost its grip on my neck.

I didn't know what to say, but somehow I felt sparks in my stomach as he stared at me.

What am I thinking? No! No, Eve, He is a bad wicked man!

He grabbed my elbow and dragged me upstairs; I didn't fight back.
