Issue #1

(For those that were asking, he got Emma's Clone's Omega-Level Telepathy. A secondary mutation has to be gotten at a different time.)

'Even for someone that isn't a botanist, I can tell that trees should not be able to survive the void of space. So that means this place is special. And since I'm a mutant, special means bad 99% of the time.'

Jack flew toward the island and landed on it as he looked around curiously. The entire place looked as real as it did when he saw it from a distance.

Jack then went around touching the various vines and leaves and trees. There were also several unusual pieces of vegetation. And when he touched them all, he determined that they were indeed real.

'So not an optical illusion and I'm positive that no telepathy or magic has been used on me. Chances of drugs or pheromones being in my system are also minuscule.'

Nothing having many other options, Jack decided to send out his telepathy in psionic waves to see if he would get a response. And he was able to get 5 actually.

4 were from humanoid beings deep within the island. The feelings they gave off were faint but they were still there. And after a little more digging, he was also able to determine that they were mutants. The 5th signature he was getting was from the entire island itself.

The island was a living being.

'Emma's telepathy is one a whole other level compared to mine. She was not just stronger than me, but the number of things she could do is way more than I had expected. And even with her strength, I can't wake up these 4 from their comas. The island has to be responsible.'

Jack used his telepathy to try and find the connection between the island and the 4 captured mutants and the island but the result was shocking. Less shocking than finding a living island in space with 4 mutants inside of it but still a bit shocking.

The pair had a symbiotic relationship. The island was feeding off of the mutants' energy. Mainly off of one in particular while saving the other 3 as a backup. While it was feeding off of them, it was also providing them with nutrients.

The island and mutants could have been there for a month, a year, 10 years. Jack was unable to tell at all but he knew that the island was both killing them and keeping them alive.

'So now use trying to go after them. Let's try talking with the island itself.'

Jack sat on the island as he tried to communicate with it. It took about 30 minutes to get through to it since it seemed to also be unconscious as well. But while he was trying to talk to it, he was able to see the memories of the island.

They were garbled and distorted at first. The earliest memories of the island couldn't be seen clearly. A larger island, a black sword, this island and another one, Apocalypse. Random images that made no sense.

But Jack was able to see more recent things much clearer. Especially the important things that happened 10 years prior.

Even though he wasn't able to get the full story, Jack was able to guess most of the story from what he already knew and what he saw from the island's mind.

During one of their earliest missions, the original 5 X-Men were captured by a living island. Somehow Scott was able to make it off the island and back to the Professor. The pair formed another X-Men team with Scott's brother Alex and several other mutants to rescue the original team. After they saved the originals, Polaris sent the island into space.

That was the original story that Jack and Emma heard. That's what most people thought happened. But that wasn't the complete truth.

In truth, Scott did not get lucky and escape the island. And the team he brought back was not the second team. They were the 3rd.

The 4 mutants that were currently within the island were the second team that came to the original X-Men's rescue. All 5 of the original had been captured but with the help of this team, they were able to rescue Scott before getting captured themselves.

But when Scott came back to rescue the X-Men, he did not even try to look for or rescue these 4. Which left Jack thinking that one of two things happened.

'Either Scott and the Professor were in on it or the Professor has a much darker side than I initially thought.'

No matter what the answer was, Jack would find out soon enough. He would not just leave this matter alone.

After digging through the memories, Jack was finally able to 'wake up' the island and speak to it but he didn't learn much from it. The island was called Krakoa. It lived off of absorbing the energy from mutants. And the reason it captured the original X-Men was that it was starving so it went berserk.

Now that it had been able to feed on these 4 for 10 years, especially the most powerful one, Krakoa was much calmer though still hungry.

Jack took this as an opportunity.

{How about we make a deal? I will give you a new home and all the food you can get. In return, you free those 4 mutants you have within in you and I can get access to some of the resources that you produce.}

Although he wasn't sure what the island produced, Jack still wanted a chance to study it. But most importantly, this island was also a mutant. Which meant it was one of his people.

{##@$#@$#% ^$%^ *%&$*@ $#@%! ##@#}

{Good. Then we have a deal.}

Jack opened up a portal before bringing Krakoa to Utopia. Even though Krakoa was huge, Utopia had plenty of room for it. But Jack wanted to keep the living island close and part of the community so he had it set up itself right outside of Eden.

{Welcome to Utopia, Krakoa. You are the first permanent resident.}
