Vastra Arakaali, Queen Of Sand

Darn, most likely, the kid was in the Briton Domain. I have a gut feeling that he will be one of those mini-bosses to fight in the area before we get to the main enemy. I sighed, but my heart was racing with excitement.

It was slightly scary but overwhelmingly thrilling to be facing so many bosses within one night. Perhaps if Vania would allow me, I might go crazy and beat all six Mages up in one go. But with my Elemental Energy Pool being relatively small for my liking, I doubt I could last that long.

Once again, I composed myself and decided to look for another kid's profile. Switching from a boy to a girl, this kid's name and description reminded me of a character notorious for fortune-telling and mystics. Her name was Vastra Arakaali, and unlike the rest, she was native to Briton.

This girl was terrifyingly skinny and malnourished. It was hard to tell her facial features, but I could tell her face looked sunken and was tanned. She wore a translucent purple veil to cover her face and a long flowing robe of the same colors in her profile picture.

The prayer beads and the number of gems plastered all over her confirmed my suspicion of her being some fortune-teller. Another name she went by was 'Queen Of Sand' a codename by her customers. Before I could read on about her history, Bryan abruptly popped up in my view.

"Hey! I know her! She's that weird kid I met during my journeys to the Briton Domain! When I was left alone during one of my adopted mother's tasks. But I hadn't joined the Five Kings since I had an issue with their acceptance requirements."

"As for Vastra, I didn't know why she was so persistent in selling me some mystic gems, but I guess it was the only way for her to make ends meet. Although, she was quite powerful for a kid whose body looked like it could crumble at any moment."

"She was a Sand Mage and quite a master of that Element since she turned most materials into the sand. However, the gem shop she was running had many other artifacts that could use other Elements. I'm not sure how that works," explained Bryan,

"So the gems that Vastra has in her shop were filled with spells? Like, ready to go spells?" I asked, hopeful that I could get my hands on a takeaway spell.

"If you look at them in a certain way, then yes, those gems are filled with spells that don't reqiure Elemental Energy to power them. For example, I recall that Vastra had a Topaz gem fused with the Helios Metropolis spell. She claimed that once you threw it at someone, the spell would appear."

"But of course, the gems are quite expensive. The Topaz gem was around a few Gold Pieces during that time," explained Bryan.

"Why do you need to pay for a spell as easy as Helios?" asked the little Valkyrie in my arms.

I looked down to meet the Valkyrie's little face. She squirmed a bit which made me set her down on the ground. Without a moment's hesitation, this child had conjured up a replica of the sun in her tiny palm. Not both hands, just one was enough to hold the 'sun.'

"Because... Not everyone can conjure up a spell of such high ranks in a blink. Since childhood, Helios Spells have always been your specialty, so you don't have to pay for them. Also, that freaks me out. Lady Roydon, please put the sun away," begged the Slayer.

"Bryan's right; Basic Elements are easy for the Pure Mages to master since we've got years of experience. However, the newer generation seems to limit what spells they can or cannot use. Thus, the reason to buying spells from other Mages."

"But even if I was in such a predicament, I'm not selling my house for some small rock that gives out the most basic defense spell in the whole planet. I would lose some brain cells if I'd ever had to resort to such a thing," explained Z, shaking his head.

I swear, I lost part of my soul when the Valkyrie had a min version of the sun in her hand. I guess the whole point of the gems was to allow an Ice Mage to use a Fire Spell without being prominent in the Fire Element. It's a good thing for weak Mages, but not for me.

I thought that the gems could store more potent spells like Bryan's Constellations or anything above the power level of my current attacks. However, after hearing that a Basic Spell would cost me two Gold Pieces, I'd train more than to fork up a Gold Piece.
