The Black Knight

"If they don't, you have my full permission to behead them. Also, keep any weapons or items that store Magecraft since Gillian has been collecting trinkets from all Major Missions. The Headmaster wants to use them for his new toys," finished the Valkyrie.

Oof... Talk about brutal. But I ultimately agreed with Mavislin, finding that it was a suitable order to follow for the Mission. I saluted the Valkyrie before diving into the archives and profiles to see the targets' weaknesses. Bryan nodded and agreed to Mavislin's commands.

This hunt for the opponent's Elemental Cores leads me to read about the fourth child, who was looking a bit like a character I knew. And if I thought discerning Vastra's features were complex, then this fourth child would be impossible with all the spiky black armor he was wearing.

Or was it a she? I had no clue until Mavislin placed her hand on the desk. A few streams of gold appeared on her hand and went into the tabletop, reaching the 'Black Knight' profile.

"It would seem that it's time to explain myself and how'd I met this aggressor of a Knight. Elizabeth, are you familiar with Arthurian Legends? The King Of Knights, King Arthur of Camelot?" questioned Mavislin, grinning as she looked back at me.

I froze when I heard that name... It was from my favorite anime! Don't tell me that this realm has the same person?! I nodded confidently.

"Well then, that makes explaining this person easier for me. You are looking at Artoria Pendragon, a knock-off version of the dead King. Dubbed as the Black Knight, Artoria was a girl destined to become King when she pulled out Caliburn from the stone."

"I wasn't with the Congregation at the time, but I did find a young girl playing by herself amongst the lush autumn fields of Briton. Her name was Artoria, and she was training to become King as an heir of Uther Pendragon. The Promised King Of Camelot."

"However, the Black Knight isn't the same person as Artoria. The King has been dead for about a century and remains buried. The Black Knight is a fake being created by a Mage dubbed by the Congregation as Merlin. I've encountered Merlin once, but he wasn't too... Normal."

"Hang on, why is the Black Knight within the Unknown Children Project? I thought she was a teenager?" asked Raiyen, who hadn't contributed to the discussion for about half an hour.

"She was a teenager when she took over Briton, but we talked about another person. As Mavislin stated, the Black Knight and Artoria Pendragon are not the same people. The Black Knight is a reimagining of the fallen King that Merlin created out of the battle of Camlann."

"In other words, Merlin went insane with how the King fell and sought to recreate the Promised King to take over Briton again. The Black Knight herself was in my case files because it was much later that she surfaced and was seen in the outskirts of Albion," explained Z.

"The Black Knight was an artificially created doll with the powers and features of the fallen King. I've observed her when she was caged within the Congregation's grounds. It was only for a while since Merlin came and ransacked the whole place to break the thing out."

"She was part of the Unknown Children because she was just a kid who came out of nowhere to confront the Mages on guard duty. Her powers were destructive and chaotic. Her eyes bore no sorrow for trampling over the fallen. I dare say she was having fun," explained the Valkyrie.

Mavislin went towards the desk and typed in a few words to gather more data on the Black Knight and Merlin the Mage. As the Valkyrie searched for the details, I couldn't help but let my mind wander. The once shining star of Britannia has become a monster?!

Sure, the game I played that tied with my favorite anime did have a character like this, calling her 'Alter.' However, I didn't expect to face that character in the flesh! As images of the Black Knight popped out everywhere, I began to feel dread sink into my shoulders.

If this world had the same concept as the game I played, I would be playing with fire very soon because the Altered versions of Heroic Spirits are more destructive than their genuine counterparts since they no longer need to restrain themselves. Chaotic Evil would be best to describe them.

I shuddered at the fact as Mavislin began describing this world's version of Altered King Arthur. But the new King did not have a proper sequence of stages in an Oringal Spell. Instead, the Black Knight's primary combat skills were her swordsmanship and the Element of Darkness.
