Raiyen's Time Trap

"It's a new thing and hasn't been released to the members yet. It's still a prototype, but I'm confident it'll work against my enemy for this Mission. It's a project that Gillian and I had worked on for quite some time, and I'm mighty proud of it," brimmed Raiyen.

"Is that why the two of you have been acting so close lately?" asked Bryan, raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean by that? We've always been close..."

"If that was the truth, then the sun will rise from the West. The Headmaster only acts friendly towards Baldwin and Z, not you, Time Mage," spat Bryan, making me giggle.

Raiyen shrugged his shoulders and continued his explanation of his newfound toy.

"This is called a Time Trap. As the name suggests, this thing's main purpose is to trap people in Time. Frozen in an instance of Time, a second of it, the enemy would be encased in this orb, and I can use their powers to my advantage. Or, I can turn them into power fuel for my usage."

"However, what makes this thing powerful is that it forces all copies of the captured person into this small device by trapping the target's Elemental Core. It isn't the same thing as destroying the Elemental Core as doing that would be useless to an undead person," described Raiyen.

"Wait, you're telling me that destroying the Elemental Core isn't a foolproof method to kill a Mage?" I asked, frozen in my tracks.

"Well, that would be the most effective to take down most Mages, but it isn't all that foolproof when there is Magecraft that brings the dead back to life. Other Mages such as Merlin would have the skills to create a dead Mage without using the Elemental Core."

"Another prime example would be the Element Of Corruption. It's like a virus when it affects live Mages, but when used on the bodies of deceased Mages, it brings the Mage back to life without the dead Mage's memories or sanity. That's for weak Mages that aren't Pure Mages."

"If a Mage as strong as one of us gets Corrupted, things would be much more complicated since our powers are far more profound than what the Element Of Corruption can comprehend. When that happens, the targetted Mage would have full control of their powers, but..."

"Their minds and reasoning would be far gone, right? They'll become mindless killers, solely on the intent of bringing chaos into the world," finished Bryan.

"Correct, with the bonus that the affected Mage would have powers enhanced beyond physical limits, making them a hazard to others and themselves. The first Mage to ever get affected by the Corruption became the infamous Corrupted One throughout the Universe."

"Oh, and since we're on that topic, you have to be careful when wrecking the Elemental Core since some beings have a last-ditch effort to wound you despite being on the brink of death. It's like a self-destruct button, so don't get caught in the blast," added Raiyen.

I furrowed my eyebrows and started stressing about the backup plan to deal with this problem. If FB does have a Mage on his side, powerful enough to bring back the dead, then we're all knocking at the pearly gates as a group. I sincerely hope Raiyen's device works.

"But I'm not saying your plan isn't wrong. You can still stick to the plans of taking the Elemental Core down, but don't be surprised that your targets come back to haunt you in the long run. Unfortunately for them, it can take days to years to do so."

"Anyways, using my twin daggers and that device should be enough to defeat Raijin without much damage to my Elemental Energy Pool. So now it's our turn to question you, Lady Elizabeth. How will you defeat the Hound Of Madness?" questioned Raiyen, shining the spotlight on me.

I smiled when I looked up my Original Spell for more options to use against the Iron Canine. As I was doing so, something caught my eye. The full name of my Original Spell was called Arcane Grand Orders, and it was divided into three stages.

The first stage was primed and ready for me to use, but the same can't be said for the next two steps. I could use the one right now called Infinite Temple Watcher, whatever that meant. I asked Vania how I was able to procure the other stages, but she said it wasn't anytime soon.

"Notice. To unlock the next stage of your Original Spell, you must use all Seven Orders at least once during your lifetime. It doesn't have to be in the same battle. But be warned; excessive use of attacking spells will drain your Elemental Energy Pool faster than using defensive spells."
