I threw my hands up in the air and shook my head vigorously.
"I have no intentions of tricking any of you about my origins... I was brought up in a family closer to the European style of things instead of a traditional Chinese family. We speak our native tongue, but my parents never liked the Chinese way of things."
"Alrighty then, how about the ongoing war between North and South Korea? How did it fare in your world?"
"Ongoing? My dear Kitsune... Before I had left my world, the civil war of Korea had ceased, but the two remained different. They signed a peace treaty in 1953 with the follow-up in 2018..." I stated, confused out of my mind.
"Ah, from the time I left, the Korean War was still ongoing, but they had signed the Armistice to stop physical combat unless provoked. It was the first half of the Peace Treaty on the Korean Peninsula, so I don't see the conflict as ceased at the time."
"How about the Wall Street Crash in the United States?"
"The direct event led to the giant economical crash, causing the Great Depression of the Globe? Yes, I'm well aware of that event. Are you aware of the terrorist act of 9/11 in the year 2001?" I asked, wondering if Tomoe knew of such things.
That twin tower incident happened in the same year I was born, and it was described as the worst terrorist act in history, sparking a global change on terrorists and making new measures against these new threats. But, even before I left, terrorists were still quite a problem.
"Unfortunately, yes, since I was there when the towers collapsed. I managed to save some people, not all since the buildings started to crumble in the aftermath. After that, I never returned to the States again. I hated the people there but not because of that incident."
"Ah, I wouldn't blame you. But, regrettably, things got worse in the years to come. Mass school shootings occurred, and the police were under fire for killing people of color for no good reason."
"So when I left, I don't even know if there would be a future for the generations to come..." I explained sadly.
"If given a chance, would you want to go back to your world?" questioned Tomoe, staring into my eyes.
I shyly looked away since I never liked to make eye contact with people. But mostly because I was thinking about that question. Had it been a few days ago, I would've said yes without hesitation. But now, after joining the Pillars and going on a Mission...
And talking about past events and the current affairs of things, it would be safer to stay here in this world. But, of course, this realm is not without its dangers, but I think the people of this time would have a better heart and mind than the people of my world.
Yes, no matter where I'd end up, there would always be heartless and greedy people. But, of course, there's nothing wrong with that since it's human nature to have something you don't have. But it is the way that urges it's been executed that matters.
This realm has its fair share of atrocities, but with the mix in with Magecraft, things get handled a lot more differently around here. For example, wounds can heal much faster, and defenses can be enhanced instead of manual labor. But then again, Magecraft is a double-edged sword.
Magecraft is a scale higher than firearms. Some even have the same caliber of a nuclear warhead. But back to the question...
"Yes, I would, but it's only for my baby brother. If he happens to appear in this world, I will stay here. Other than that, I do not care for the world I had left behind. I fully embraced this new life because I get to see Magecraft and Elements in action," I replied a few moments later.
"Hmm... You never struck me as a family-orientated person. I thought you might be the rebellious teenager type of girl, but I guess life is always full of surprises," smirked Tomoe, impressed that his assumptions were wrong.
"And I thought you were playboy of a Kitsune that would've seduced me ages ago. I had never thought to encounter a fox spirit that isn't covered with women's scent and works for an organization to quell the trouble," I blurted out, staring right at the Kitsune.
"Hey! I am a mature Kitsune, so that I won't be doing such childish things. Although, I do go to Albion's Red Light District on occasions to unwind with some smoking and women. But with the way things are going forth now, I don't think I've got the time for that, nor would I need to."
