Children As Familiars

Duncan was right; these kids aren't alive anymore as much as we didn't want to believe it. For Bryan and Tomoe, they were hellbent on trying to find some survivors here, but I understood what he was saying. These kids have already died, so there's no point holding back.

"Duncan's right! Whatever they are now, they are no longer alive, so go crazy and take as much down as you need to land a scratch on Fabian!" I yelled, pushing the girl off and shoving my sword into the kid's head.

"You would hurt so many innocent children?!" shouted Fabian, moving his sticks around to conjure up more children.

"They are no longer alive, thanks to you! So shut up, stop cowering under children, and fight us like a proper Mage!" I shouted, pushing away another child.

But as I neared Fabian, another young girl jumped into my sight, forcing me back with a giant spear. I cursed as I tried to use my strike to push her off, but she was solid and stable. The children didn't strike me as the Husks or look like Mages.

They were too mindless to use Magecraft, and they could barely grip onto their weapons, except for the one child I was fighting now. As if Fabian wasn't disgusting enough, he turned the victims into his Familiars?! Now he's making children do the fighting?! What the f-

Crap! The girl I'm fighting is strong and good with her spear. How could a mere child's reflexes and skills be this good?! After the first few clashes, I'd finally remembered seeing the girl within the archives and on a painting on one of the walls earlier.

Nina Meyers, daughter of the Earl, ran a seed business off the coast of Albion. She was to be heir to the house of Meyers and married to the Count of Keswick to improve the vegetarian trade in Albion. According to the records, Nina had been missing for the past few years and should be older.

That meant Fabian's kidnapping started way before any of us predicted. Damn, I felt so bad for the kid since she looked like a charming girl to work with. Nina had brown hair tied up into twin tails using white ribbons while wearing a corset and dress.

She was ultra pale but most like because she had been dead for several years, which I'm surprised that she hasn't rotten yet. Either that or Fabian's powers are using the memories of bones to summon dead little girls from the walls. Either way, I'm not an avid fan of this.

But the worse thing about the children was their eyes... When I managed to hold down a clash with the young girl, they didn't have any. Staring into two empty sockets was like looking into a dark abyss; it was my limit. So I positioned my body to swerve and disarmed Nina.

As I hit her, the poor girl was in mid-air for a split Tick before I quickly finished her off.

"What the hell?!" I shouted as I stabbed my sword into the ground and kicked Nina in the stomach, blowing a hole into the young lass.

When I was done with one, another kid drove a knife into my arms, and I winced before turning around. As I grabbed the kid's hand, I crushed his skull, causing his head to explode into pieces. Tomoe was shocked, but I didn't have enough time to explain myself as the Black Knight appeared.

"Never thought you had it in you to hurt kids... I guess I can be wrong about nice-looking gals," noted Mordred as she defended me from another kid.

"I can hurt anything if I'm upset enough. And I'm about to blow the enemy's brains out if I face another round of children again! So I'm just wasting my time over here, and I damned attempted to use my Orginal Spell and wipe out the entire hill!"

"How many more of these kids do we have to kill to achieve our main goal?!" I shouted as I took out my sword and dug through the spells I could use as a wave clearer.

"Until we can knock those sticks out from Fabian if we can even reach him! These kids will keep coming for as long Fabian is near bones!" shouted Mordred as she bashed through a few kids.

The Black Knight was still fending off the horde while Bryan and Tomoe outright used a few spells. But we need something more potent. I clicked my tongue and chose an attack, throwing up my sword.

"Then I've got no choice but to do this! Vania, select Fire! Let's clear the wave! Everyone heads down now!" I called out as my blade was engulfed with flames.
