Mordred Becomes My... Pet?

The Knight's helmet broke apart, revealing a smile underneath. I relaxed my shoulders as Mordred slowly closed her eyes as her body glowed in bright red and vanished into dust. But something clicked in my mind as I shook my head. I know how powerful Mordred Pendragon can be.

So I won't be losing a five-star servant anytime soon... But, no, I've got an idea that Mordred may or may not be happy with this choice. I took a deep breath as I ordered Vania to activate Avarice, much to the worry of the Knight.

"Hey... I don't need to hurry up the process by being impaled again, so please keep that giant blade far away from me..." begged the Knight, trying to push away the sword.

"I'm not going to hurt you, but I want to form a pact with you... And for that to happen, I need to absorb your soul into my blade. That is, if you want to continue living," I explained while my blade started shining bright with black and purple Elemental Energy.

"Huh?! What are you trying to do?"

"Turning you into my pet or Familiar, whichever sounds nicer. You told me you wanted to live your life again without going through a kingdom, so I'm giving you a chance to live in this world. Because if you don't do it now, you'll return to the Void where you were forced to be."

"You can never ascend because you tainted your legend, and you can never descend because you aren't too evil for hell. So you'll be stuck in nothingness again, or you can form a pact with me and continue to see what this world offers. We don't have to see that Valkyrie..."

"We could start our quests while still being in the Arks. So what do you say?" I explained as Avarice was ready to engulf Mordred's dying body.

"I'd say I would have to serve under you, right? I want freedom and not tied down... Serving the King was the most painful thing because I never wanted Camelot to fall like that. The only reason I wanted the throne was to relieve my father's burden..."

"So I won't want to follow anyone anymore," explained Mordred as she took a deep breath.

"Don't worry; I promise I won't be as controlling as Fabian or the King... I will give you the freedom that you want. So we can see the world and fight monsters while having fun."

"How about the Arks? I thought you have to work for Mavislin?"

"I can always take Missions that require me to go for long distances and could meet new friends or do quests along the way. We could be pals, you know?" I asked, smiling.

As I said those words, another glitched image appeared before my vision. It was only a split second, but I knew the picture was of a lone man with golden hair, ruby eyes, and a pale face. I don't know who he was, but he wasn't important now because I was still fighting a battle.

The Knight of Rebellion hesitated before nodding and grabbing the sword with her hand.

"Alright, I shall entrust this blade to you, Master," said Mordred as Avarice engulfed her.

Uh... Maybe she shouldn't call me that; it sounds like I'm about to participate in a battle royale... As the light faded, I instantly stood up in time to catch a flying fox being thrown at me by Fabian.

"Whoa there! Since when could you fly?" I taunted as I helped Tomoe get back onto his feet.

"Shut it! This Mage is more challenging than I had expected. Since when did the records state he can use weapons?!" shouted the Kitsune as he pointed his katana at the enemy.

"I don't know, but whatever he is pulling out should be from our recent memories, so stay focused while I think of a way to end this! Can you both handle it?" I asked, staring at Fabian, who wiped the floor using the Slayer.

"I think I can, but I don't think Bryan can last any longer unless we blow a hole through the ceiling," answered Tomoe as his blade was engulfed with blue flames.

"Why do we have to blow a hole in the roof?"

"Because of his powers, the Constellations! He needs the night sky to be peak power!" yelled the Kitsune, diving block Bryan from a large scythe.

While Tomoe and Bryan kept him busy, Fabian summoned more child servants to break apart our party, but Duncan took up the task and started killing the kids like sweeping dirt off the floor.

Unfortunately, the enemy had copied the Ankou's scythe to face the men, and Duncan wasn't too happy about it. But I thought about what Tomoe said and realized it was nighttime.
