Chapter 19: Ghost Advice

I open my mouth to protest, but she closes the door behind her. Great. Now I've upset her with my denial of having powers. Way to go, Brene! In one day, I've gotten into a huge fight with my boyfriend and pissed off my new friend. What's next? Maybe I should go hang out with Gwen and her stuck-up wannabes. That would just complete my life right now.

"Is it safe, lass?" Kiarr's burr echoes in my bedroom.

"No," I mutter and flop face down on the bed, covering my head with my arms. "I've screwed everything up."

"Aye, lass."

I lift an arm and glare at him. "You're supposed to argue with me."

"But then I would be lying, and I speak truth whenever I can."

Pushing up on my elbows, I sigh. "What do you suggest I do to fix it then?"

He moves his sword out of the way so he can sit on the edge of the bed. "Speak with this human."

"Lance."

Kiarr made a face. "Find this Lance and tell him the truth."

"Which is?" I prod.
