Chapter 32: Who Gave Vampires an Invitation?

His arm is like a steel bar across my chest and arms. I kick him, but he lifts me effortlessly. He carries me back to the other vamps waiting. Their fangs are extended and a hungry look in their eyes makes me shrink back.

"This one is all mine," Zane says. "After she's dead, we'll take out her Aunt and Uncle, then her friends."

"No, please." I try again to break free. He doesn't budge. It's like I'm wrestling with a statue that feels no pain and my struggles do nothing.

"She's got them all listed on her cellphone. So nice of you not to have a screen lock."

No, no, I can't let him hurt Aunt Grace or Lance or my friends. I need my magic to freaking work!

I close my eyes whispering a silent prayer. Just a blast like I did at the school cafeteria when Zane and his gang first attacked me and the others. A zip of something tickles the back of my mind.
