Jack
Adeline screamed as the dragon bit her forearm. Blood dribbled from the edges of its mouth, and Jack darted forward.
"Stop." His command echoed across the cave. He set the egg on its side-intact and unharmed, cradled next to a bolder.
If it killed Adeline, he would never be able to wipe the memory from his mind. Another death would be on his conscience. He needed a strategy and dashed to the creature's side, focusing on the swiping tail. In a swift motion, he gripped the tail near the tip. Its slippery scales threatened to cut him with the jerking movements, but he tightened his hold, wary of spikes inches above him that could rip his body to shreds.
He needed to do whatever it took for him and Adeline to escape.
"Yes, your touch thrills me." The dragon mumbled around Adeline's arm in her mouth. Adeline's screams deafened Jack.
At least, it hadn't severed her limb. Yet.
