Tormented by loan sharks, Lorn had lived the life of an 'ascetic'. He would willingly become homeless and live the life of a beggar (and only sometimes a pickpocket), so his hard-earned money wouldn't fall into his debtors' hands. Hopefully, they would finally leave him alone after realizing he's worth nothing anymore.

But realizing his plans, the debtors decide to sell him as a guinea pig!

However, Lorn finds a once-in-a-lifetime chance. The researchers were creating a virtual world using the digital space. And to create profits from it, instead of simply creating boring-old Virtual Earth (and calling it the Metaverse), they were making a game out of it!

"What'll you do about Kitara?" Gwen asked.

She couldn't imagine an A-rank accompanying them on their little adventure. The fact that she was overseeing the hunts of mere E-ranks was already mind-boggling.

"I'll ask if she wants to come along. It's not like there are no A-rank dungeons where we're going," Elan said. "But if she wants to stay here, then that's fine as well. It would do us good to separate for some time."

"She'll do whatever Bossman asks her to."

"Hah, that's definitely true. She complains endlessly about him, but she's probably the most loyal to him."

"Though, is there anything the Bossman did to make her so loyal?" Gwen wondered. "It kinda feels like he just sits in his room doing nothing in particular."
