Chapter thirty-four

She was in a field of she knew not what, completely ravaged by an intense fire, as it was nothing but ashes and debris. The smell of sulfur was still in the air, making her cough. When she had finally calmed down, she realized she had a scarf around her neck, which she wrapped around her face and head in a turban to protect herself and to move forward.

She walked like this for a long time but could not see the end of the field. The field seemed endless, but she did not despair of finding the reason for her presence there, and so she continued to walk since she was not yet tired. And she was right to do so, for after a while she came to an intact part of the field which she discovered to be made up of irises, flowers associated with royalty, wisdom, hope, and courage, and gladioli, associated with strength.

But then why did part of the field go up in flames?

What could it possibly mean?
