Inside she saw rows and rows of tables and chairs arranged neatly in groups of five and six.
To her left, she saw a large bar set up between two long tables. At the other side of the restaurant there was also a small kitchen set aside to the side and behind it were the stairs leading upstairs.
On either side of the small kitchen there was one more set of stairs which lead straight up. At the end of the bar, she saw a man sitting at a stool, a cup of coffee next to him.
When he noticed her standing there his eyes widened.
"If it isn't the king's lap dog." The voice chuckled noticing her presence.
Neia didn't look down, she kept walking ignoring their existence.
"Do I know you?" She ask with a raised eyebrow. She couldn't remember where she had seen them.
Neia rolled her eyes at their expression.
They looked annoyed and angry like no one has ever disrespected them. There's a first time for everything.
"Don't start a game you won't like." They warned.
'A threat huh? I haven't heard one of those in a while. The person always ended up died.' She thought shrugging.
Neia rolled her eyes. "Don't you have other things to do than bore me?"
"Oh feisty as ever!" They spoke.
"Cut the act, we both knew that's not why you're here."
"love you too." They cheesed.
I took the time to take in their appearance.
Their pale skin, which complimented their short purple hair. They wore a pure black suit and a beautiful pair of brown eyes.
"You know staring is disrespectful." The girl commented with a devilish smirk.
Neia would rather be crushed to death by a meteorite than spend another second near them.
"As much as I'd love to stay here and....chat but you've caught me at a bad time." Neia spoke.
"Right, the old man gave you a new job." They spoke.
Her figure slowly merged into the shadows as she immediately walked away.
'So much for a keeping a low profile.' Neia mentally cursed herself.
*******
"Your late" Neia spoke in a voice dripping with sarcasm.
The boy quirked an eyebrow, evidently unrepentant.
The boy stared at her for a moment, his
expression arrogant like some young lord contemplating a peasant who dared correct him.
Finally, he said, "sorry."
The rest of the room gave a subtle sign of relief that conflict had been averted.
'Great, just what we need! This day couldn't get any worse.' Neia thought
Neia rubbed her temples at headaches she was going to experience.
"Anyways, we should introduce ourselves and say each of our abilities. We will need it to form a good battle strategy." Amais suggested.
"I'll start! My name is Amais Tynisa. I'm an earth based healer so it's pretty self explanatory. I hope we can become good friends." Amais said with a breathtaking smile, beaming with excitement.
'Her ability seems really helpful and she has a good personality. So far.' Neia thought.
"You can call me Charlotte Cyan and my ability is called holy blessing. I can basically summon a sword and one other thing but you'll have to find out yourself." said a girl with golden brown braid.
They had a slim build and a really small chest. They made up for it with their tall frame.
"I'm Cole but you can call me whatever. My ability is herbal magic. I can create protection charms, and boosting elixir." The carefree boy commented.
The boy had a lean, muscular build, short black hair and big red eyes standing at 6 feet.
'The ability suits him. This guy looked dumber than a goldfish.' Neia thought with a chuckle.
"I don't see the point in this but I'm Kaz Altschmerz. My ability is shadow manipulation." He spoke.
Which group isn't complete without a self entitled asshole who thinks they rule the world.
At least, they would be useful. They also had powerful abilities to contribute to the team.
"Seems like it's my turn. I'm Neia and I don't have an ability." She spoke unbothered.
Everyone stared at Neia with shocked expressions not sure how to respond to this announcement.
"I guess we'll need to find a good use for you since we are going to be the ones carrying you." Cole said.
'Cocky bastard, now that you think you've the upper hand on me, you start talking shit.' Neia thought.
She had many things she wanted to tell these-so-called "teammates" of hers. But she decided to not respond.
Neia knew better than to add fuel to an already burning fire.
Pulling out her dagger, she launched it straight at Cole. He barely managed to dodge, the dagger missing him by a hair.
"I might not have an ability but it does not mean I'm weak or need your protection." Neia smiled innocently, but her voice filled with attitude. "A friend warning, next time I won't miss."
Shivers spread throughout his entire body from her cold eyes.
That doesn't mean she would let him look down on her.
"Everyone, Shut up!" Charlotte demanded with authority in their voice.
"We just met and you're already causing trouble! We need to try and get along with each other! If this keeps up, there would definitely be no way that last longer than a week." Taking control of the situation.
We only nodded back in agreement.
"...Now that the introductions are out of the way! We should start formulating a plan." said Charlotte.
'Guess there is no debate on who should be our new leader.'
"I assume we all have some idea of we need to do?" They questioned.
"The best move would be for Neia and I to infiltrate the castle as maids. We will blend into the crowd while gradually gathering information on any new plans. Kaz can pose as a guard for backup in case we are discovered and need to change plans."
Charlotte suggested taking a deep breath.
"Once we have a deeper understanding of who we are dealing with, we will move onto our next course of action."
"It is a good plan and all but what the hell are Amias and I supposed to do?" Cole asked.
"Well, we need you to stay back and make us some useful potions, Okay? Right and if we were to bring Amias, it would only attract unwanted attention since she's an elf plus her ability focusing on healing; It's a great ability but in terms of a fight breaking out, it would only slow us down so it's best she stays behind and trains. For this mission, we can't simply rely on our abilities to save us. Anyone else want to question my plans?" Charlotte lectured.
The room filled with a pin dropping silence.
"No one? Great than we can move on with our lives!" They smiled.
'Fuck! That was...hot.' A slight blush evident on her face.
'Spoken like a true leader. I have a feeling we'll get along just fine Charlotte.'
Suddenly, she felt eyes on her back. She turned to see Kaz glaring at her.
He turned away when he saw that he was caught red handed.
'Huh! What is his problem?'
