Choosing a Technique

"Have you seen that guy over there?" asked a young girl, gesturing towards Wang Yu. She looked to be about fourteen years old, with an amiable look, the type that's easy to get along with.

Beside her stood another girl with the same alchemy department symbol emblazoned on her chest. This girl seemed calmer, with mesmerizing eyes that seemed to miss nothing. "He looks dangerous," she said in response to the first girl's question.

"But I can feel that he's only at the first stage of Qi condensation," replied the other girl.

Just then, Wang Yu looked back in their direction, seeing Wang Yu's sudden move Lu Chi looked back and started approaching the two women.

"Hello, Sister Mu Xintong and Lin Qin.How have you been, I haven't seen you since the evaluation day." greeted Lu Chi.

"We've been good. Sister Mu has been in seclusion training with her master Elder Shu," Lin Qin said, while Mu Xintong remained indifferent and did not say anything.

Mu Xintong was known for her stunning beauty and had many pursuers vying for her attention. It was no surprise that Lu Chi seemed to be admiring her from afar.

Feeling awkward, Lu Chi introduced Wang Yu. "This is Brother Wang Yu. He's a new disciple who came from the servant district; he had hunted a lot of beasts from the Darkness Forest."

Lin Qin tried to break the ice, "It's nice to meet you, Brother Wang Yu. I've heard that the Darkness Forest can be a dangerous place to hunt."

Wang Yu nodded and said "Yes, it's dangerous."

Lin Qin nodded, a look of understanding on her face. "I see. Well, we should probably get going. It was nice meeting you, Brother Wang Yu." They then turned around and walked away.

"Yes, it was nice meeting you too. Take care," Lu Chi said with a smile.

After the girls left, Lu Chi turned to Wang Yu and said, "Sister Mu Xintong and Lin Qin are both very talented cultivators. Sister Mu, especially, is extremely gifted and hardworking. She's been in seclusion training with her master Elder Shu and I heard that she's made incredible progress in her cultivation thanks to her dedication and diligence. I'm sure she'll be a formidable cultivator in the future."

Wang Yu nodded, "I see. It's always impressive to see someone with such dedication to their cultivation."

"Yes, it is. Sister Mu is definitely someone to watch out for. I'm sure she'll go far in the cultivation world with her hard work and determination," Lu Chi said with a smile.

The two of them continued on their way, with Wang Yu silently reflecting on the conversation he had just had with the girls. Despite his initial reservations about small talk with strangers, he could feel that Mu Xintong wasn't simple.

Meanwhile, after leaving Wang Yu and Lu Chi Lin Qin turned to Mu Xintong and said, "Did you see how Brother Wang Yu was emitting killing intent naturally, without even intending to? It's no wonder he was able to survive the dangers of the Darkness Forest. He's definitely someone to be reckoned with."

Mu Xintong nodded, "Yes, I noticed that too. It's rare to see someone with such natural killing intent. It's a testament to his strength and skill as a hunter."

Lin Qin continued, "He seemed a bit cold and distant, though. I wonder if he's always like that or if he just doesn't like strangers."

Mu Xintong shrugged, "It's hard to say. Either way, I'm sure he's someone we should keep an eye on."

…..

Actually, it was Wang Yu's mistake not to hide his killing intent. He had been living in the darkness for so long that he had become accustomed to emitting it naturally.

So when he entered the sect, he still looked ferocious despite trying to appear more approachable. His appearance was barbaric, with some faint bruises on his face and arms from his hunting in the Darkness Forest.

His body had also changed due to his continuous hunting regime and the nutrition he gained from devouring the beasts. He had become taller and more solid, his muscles more defined from the constant physical activity.

Despite his efforts to appear more civilized, it was clear that Wang Yu had been shaped by his time in the Darkness Forest. He was no longer the slim, unassuming youth he once was.

…..

Wang Yu and Lu Chi entered the library of the Ice Hell Sect. The building was vast and imposing, filled with rows of books and jade slips containing a wealth of knowledge and resources related to cultivation and martial arts.

Lu Chi explains to Wang Yu that not all of these resources are free, but there are still many that are available to everyone. The library also contains pill formulas and methods for creating array formations.

The library of the Ice Hell Sect was filled with rows upon rows of books and jade slips, it contained various types of resources that are designed to help martial artists to enhance their strength, including cultivation methods which are techniques used to cultivate Qi and improve a martial artist's cultivation level, martial skills which utilize Qi and the strength of the body to attack or defend an enemy, movement skills which coordinate Qi with the body's strength to enhance speed, and auxiliary skills which aim to boost a martial artist's overall ability.

Wang Yu couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the wealth of knowledge and resources available to them. It was clear that this library was a crucial part of the sect's success, and he was grateful to have access to it.

Seeing Wang Yu's gaze, Lu Chi added, "the library contains different types of resources, of course, not all the resources in the library are free. Many of them require Contribution points to access, but there are still plenty of resources that are freely available to everyone. The library also contains pill formulas and methods to create array formations, so there's something for everyone here."

As they walked through the stacks, they occasionally caught glimpses of other people in the library, all deeply focused on their studies. Wang Yu couldn't help but feel a sense of respect for his fellow cultivators, all working hard to improve their skills and advance their cultivation.

They started in the cultivation methods section, where Wang Yu found the Ice Spring Meditation Technique, which cost 600 contribution points and focused on cultivating Ice Qi. He also came across the Dragon Transformation Technique, which cost 500 contribution points and allowed the user to become as strong as a dragon through Qi cultivation. However, Wang Yu wasn't particularly interested in this technique, as he already had The Everlasting Turtle Technique, which focused on cultivating the body and was way better than any technique in the library.

They also went to the martial skills section, where Wang Yu found the Divine Sword Technique, which cost 300 contribution points and enhanced his sword techniques by infusing them with Qi. He also came across the Thunderous Palm Strike, which cost 300 contribution points and used Qi to enhance the strength of his palm strike.

In the movement skills section, Wang Yu found the Shadow Step, which cost 200 contribution points and allowed its user to move at high speeds and evade attacks by coordinating his Qi with his body's movement. He also came across the Fleet Footed Art, which cost 300 contribution points and enhanced his speed and agility.

Finally, they reached the auxiliary skills section, where Wang Yu found the Invisibility Art, which cost 300 contribution points and allowed the user to become invisible by manipulating their Qi. He also came across the Telekinesis Technique, which cost 200 contribution points and allowed him to move objects with his mind through the use of Qi.

As they walked through the library, Wang Yu was impressed by the variety of techniques available to him. It was overwhelming to think about all the different ways he could improve his cultivation and skills. He knew he would have to carefully consider his choices, as he only had one free technique to choose.

After they finished touring the library, Wang Yu thanked Lu Chi for his help and asked if he could have some time to think about his options. Lu Chi nodded and told him to take as much time as he needed to make his decision.

Wang Yu spent the afternoon carefully weighing his options and considering the pros and cons of each technique. In the end, he decided to choose the Divine Sword Technique. His spirit root contained all the elements so he couldn't choose one of the good cultivation methods that usually would focus on one or two elements at most, and he has the Qi Gathering cultivation method which while it was mediocre suited him well. As for the other techniques, he felt that his fighting skills should be prioritized over the other aspects.

With his choices made, Wang Yu approached Lu Chi and told him his decision.

Hearing it Lu Chi didn't seem to be surprised " Are you sure, most of the new disciples choose this technique. But the only problem is that the Divine Sword gets harder as you progress, so while it's among the best in terms of martial skills it's among the hardest."

Wang Yu was surprised at Lu Chi's evaluation and started to hesitate, but after thinking for some time he said, "It doesn't matter, I would train with it."

Seeing Wang Yu wasn't going to change his mind, Lu Chi congratulated him and told him to visit the library to redeem his techniques. Wang Yu thanked him and set off toward the library.
