After walking for five minutes, Wang Yu reached the City gate destined for cultivators. The gate was huge and majestic, capable of accommodating a lot of people, it was guarded by fierce-looking warriors dressed in special martial robes.
The martial robe was especially designed for the Ice Hell Cultivators, made with precious materials and inscribed with an array formation which made it able to withstand the attack of a level five Qi Condensation cultivator, some of the martial robes could even protect against stronger foes.
Wang Yu had seen it when he was inside the sect, he even wanted to purchase one but the price was absurd.
So unless someone was super rich, or did a very meritorious deed or was on a sensitive mission like guarding a huge city, he shouldn't dream of wearing them.
Wang Yu was still wearing his sect's uniform, so when he approached some of the people who were in front of him cleared the way.
He understood the reason, most of the Ice Hell disciples were arrogant and didn't like to queue with other people, especially those from small sects.
Wang Yu didn't turn the offer down, he continued walking. Nonetheless not everyone cleared the road for him, there were some people who didn't want to bow down, they also felt that Wang Yu's cultivation wasn't high.
Wang Yu didn't feel offended at all, he waited in the queue but it didn't take long.
Less than a minute later, Wang Yu handed his sect's identification card. After verifying its credulity they let him enter.
"Junior brother, I haven't seen you before, you should have come after I started guarding this city, it has been three years, my name's Ju Ting." Right after entering, one of the guards spoke to Wang Yu.
Ju Ting had a short yellow hair, dark skin and a short but built stature. He was in his early twenties and according to Wang Yu's judgment he should be in the third level of Qi Condensation.
"Yes senior brother, this is my first year in the sect. My name's Wang Yu."
"Nice to meet you junior brother, a small advice from me, you better wear normal clothes when you are outside the sect."
"Thank you, senior brother." responded Wang Yu.
Ju Ting then returned to his post, it was just a short advice, nothing much as for will Wang Yu listen to it, that's none of his business.
As Wang Yu entered the city, he saw many cultivators walking in, some had opened stalls and were selling cultivator's exotic goods from all corners of the Qihou land.
In reality the city was divided into two parts, one for cultivators and the other for mortals. Cultivators can enter the mortal's part of the city, but they aren't allowed to use their powers inside.
While walking through the streets Wang Yu felt emotional, this was the first time he entered a city, all his past life has been inside the village, the forest and the sect.
Wang Yu saw a lot of cultivators, more than what he usually saw inside the sect. But he felt that most of them were weak, he couldn't pinpoint why but he felt that if two cultivators from the same level, one from his sect and one from this city, the one here won't stand a chance.
It doesn't mean that he hasn't met any strong people, it's just that in general he felt that cultivators from the Ice Hell sect were more fearsome.
And that's the truth, for a sect to be the number one in all lands it was no surprise that they have stronger cultivators.
Wang Yu stood in front of a stall that was selling mortal stuff. Cultivators always miss their past, and sometimes envy mortals. It's hard to be carefree in the cultivation world, neither the weak nor the strong can afford that.
While pointing his finger Wang Yu asked, "what's the price for this lamp?"
The owner of the stall was an old cultivator who was only at the second level of Qi Condensation, which proved how untalented or maybe unlucky he was.
"Two spirit stones," replied the old man with a big smile on his face.
"It's clearly a mortal item and you want two spirit stones?" Replied Wang Yu coldly.
Seeing Wang Yu's reaction and since he wore the Ice Hell sect's robe, the old man apologized and started explaining "this lamp is made of Rainbow Copper and is inscribed with an array formation that can warm a room in the winter. So even though it's used by mortals, only the super rich could afford it."
Seeing Wang Yu's expression soften but his eyebrows were still condensed, he said "how about one spirit stone and half, I can't go any lower."
Wang Yu replied with a surprised look "What's a half spirit stone."
"A half spirit stone is a spirit stone which has lost half of its spiritual energy. If you don't want to, you can use gold coins."
Wang Yu then paid two spirit coins and received five gold coins since ten gold coins were equivalent to one low grade spirit stone.
After that he went to other stalls and bought others things such as a pair of shoes for uncle Lu and a vest which could protect him against any attack weaker than someone at the General Tier, nonetheless Wang Yu made sure everything he bought wasn't conspicuous as to not attract any unwanted danger, he also bought a barrel of Youth Nectar which was a nectar especially made for mortals, it allowed them to have healthy and young bodies. If one drank this nectar daily then at the age of eighties he will still look like someone in his forties.
Wang Yu bought three barrels with 75 spirit stones and planned to give it to the Lu Family that took care of him during his childhood, as for the rest of the village he was going to pay a caravan merchant to bring them many goods at cheaper prices, or for free.
While preparing the gifts, Wang Yu had seen a lot of cultivation items such as techniques, pills, treasures ..etc. Wang Yu bought the Drifting Moon technique which was a movement technique. It allowed its user to move his body in a series of graceful and flowing movements, what Wang Yu didn't like about the technique is how flashy its movements were, unlike the Shadow Steps which could be exchanged at the sect.
Unfortunately Shadow steps is very expensive, so Wang Yu bought the Drifting Moon technique which wasn't bad by the way and was the best he could afford. He planned to train with it during his journey.
Wang Yu then entered a clothing store where he changed his clothes to that of a simple gray robe, wanting to blend in with the crowd and avoid attracting unwanted attention. The robe was made of sturdy yet comfortable fabric that would be suitable for traveling long distances. It was also water resistant and stain proof. It also had a hood that could be pulled over his head to shield him from the sun or rain. Wang Yu liked this dress so he bought three others as spare clothes.
Later he went to the part of the city that was reserved for mortals, he planned to use four spirit stones equivalent to 40 gold coins which was more than enough to buy all the things the villagers needed, he just has to take care not to attract any greedy people toward the village.
He remembered that when he was young, the villagers were very happy when a caravan passed by, it was an opportunity for them to enjoy the products from outside.
