Chapter 46: From the Rubble

As Angel Flynn landed the ship in the Papal Garden, the eyes of Captain Alex, Nigel, and Dr. Hennessey were trained solidly on the cloud of dust that obscured the view of the wing of the Vatican Library. They had just watched it implode as Laurence Kane and Geri Reynolds scrambled to escape the building through a narrow window; the last they knew both men were well within the blast radius. As debris rained down against the hull of The William's Hunt, what remained of her crew was desperate for a sign of life.

Smoke joined the dust cloud, adding to Captain Alex's mounting frustration. Fires had apparently broken out amongst the rubble. The only saving grace was that the few native people who were still in the area were more concerned with getting to anyone injured by the destruction rather than taking notice of an extremely out of place chrono-ship.
