Problems

"That means..." Elder Yan's eyes sparkled with hope as he thought that Rey had finally understood what he meant and let go of his premonition about his reply.

'He is a smart boy.' he thought to himself.

Don't get your hopes up up gramps, he's an idiot.

'What do you mean?'

You'll know it pretty so...

"I'm special. Hehehe!!"

Hearing Rey's reply and shameful laugh, broke all of elder Yan's hopes and in his rage, he sent a ball of water towards him.

*Splash*

*thud*

With a noise Rey fell down as the ball of water hit him and drenched him from head to toe.

Told ya didn't I, don't get your hopes up!

'Whatever!'

*cough* *cough*

Rey coughed out the water he had accidentally swallowed and cleaning his face looked up.

"What for gram..."

"Owwwwww!!" elder Yan hit his head with a chop and a loud scream rang out before he could even complete his sentence.

"You dare joke with me over an important matter. If it weren't for you being my grandson's friend and a rare talent, I would have left you in a dungeon full of tentacle monsters."

"Damn old man! Atleast control your freaking strength. You trying to split my skull in half and you were joking about that tentacle part, right? "

Rey complained as the affected area visibly swelled.

"Che! Where are my manners, bullying the weak?" elder Yan mocked Rey, "Sorry Rey, I forgot you're a weakling."

"You ol.... Owwwwww! What for now?"Rey was about to speak again when another chop hit his head and he wailed in pain as a few tears surfaced.

"Stop being overdramatic. I know you are acting like an idiot but you need to get serious when it is important..... and especially when it concerns your future." Elder Yan said with a serious expression as he believed that all they had done till now was idle talk and nothing more.

"You sure you are not some chameleon disguised as gramps? You change your attitude way too qui..." He was about to continue when he saw the raised hand which dared him to complete the sentence unless he was not fond of his pretty face.

"Ughhh! Fine I'll tell you." Rey was disappointed as he finally gave up on having some fun with the old man.

"Now you're talking." Elder Yan seated himself again in his previous spot as he started on his third cup of tea.

"If what you had told me is true then, I shouldn't have been able to bond with a system from gen L, much less gen A, as they all should have been destroyed some 1200 years or so ago. And somehow i bonded with one."

"Yes, you got the gist of it." elder Yan took a sip of his tea, finishing it in one big gulp, "Due to this anomaly, you got bonded with a system from gen A and now you'll be facing some problems down the road, so it's better I tell you now."

"What problems?" Rey was now paying full attention as the thing he hated most was to see his dream being destroyed.

"First, your system and its functions will be outdated....." this was enough to make Rey butt in.

"But why?"

'Goddamn! Couldn't you have made him better? '

Hehehe

"Calm down you brat, have mercy on this old man. *sigh*

If I were to ask you whether the society we live in is the same as 1200 years ago, what would be your answer?"

"No"

"Then why do you suppose that the systems that worked then would be efficient now?"

"Hmmm.... so you are saying that due to the change in the working of the society and developments, the systems are also updated."

"I didn't tell you that, but yes.

Everytime a new generation of system is introduced, it is updated to better suit the needs of the people and provide much better functions and also so that it can keep up with the ever advancing technology."

"Ehhhhh... this is a bigger headache than I imagined, and what is the second?"

"Ah! The second one is a minor one compared to the first. "

"Really! What is it then?"

"If the 12 sapiens come to know about this anomaly, you'll be first interrogated and then be no more than a lab rat to say the minimum."

He looked up from the cup in his hand and saw Rey who was staring blankly at him.

"First outdated system... then a la... lab rat. My life is ruined and you say that it is minor. HAVE YOU FINALLY GONE INSANE, OLD MAN!!"

Rey shouted as he rolled on the ground like a 5 year old. Wait. Not even a 5 year old would do this.

'Man this boy and his overacting. You know that the readers don't like such an MC, author?'

What can I do?

"Do you think I wouldn't have anything if I called you here?" elder Yan sported an annoyed look.

"Really... you have a way gramps?" Rey looked at the old man with a hopeful expression but that coupled with his snot only made it look worse.

'Of course, I wouldn't let such an important piece fall into the hands of those sapiens.'

"Ya.. ya, now get up and listen."
