The Great Library- I

The next day, Rey woke up earlier than expected and even his mother was surprised when she saw her son coming out of the bath.

Her initial reaction was of shock but after that she felt like a proud mother whose son has finally achieved something. She didn't even feel like this when Rey took the 1st position in the Operator Institute, which was a really prestigious educational institution.

"You have made me proud today, Rey!" she was really happy so much so that tears were starting to drip down from her eyes.

"Why are you crying?" Rey was shocked, he had seen his mother being overdramatic but she was never the one to cry easily.

"No-nothing, I just remembered your father." she tried to find an excuse for her current state.

"WHAT? Father is sleeping in the room, I can still hear his snores. So why are you missing him?" Rey was confused, his father was still alive and kicking and he was sure that his parents just went for a dinner yesterday, so why was she missing him.

"Ohhh! I.... is that so."

*nervous laughter*

"I guess I must have drank too much yesterday. I need to use the bathroom, get out!" she hurriedly tried to enter the bathroom when she realised what a lame excuse I.... mean she had given.

"What was that?" Rey was still not able to understand what happened and he ignored his mother's antics and went to his room.

Some time later, his father entered the hallway and called out to his wife.

"Amanda! Did I hear Rey's voice?"

Amanda exited the bathroom as she stood in front of Nathan, her husband.

"Yep! you sure did." She was excited contrary to her previous expression.

"WHAT? Why didn't you wake me up earlier? If Rey is up then that means I slept till afternoon, and you are excited?"

Nathan was seriously worried, he knew that Rey never woke up before afternoon and if he was up, then he will be late to work.

"Honey! look at the clock, it's still 5 in the morning."

"Quit the joke, Amanda! Prepare my food, I'll be leaving in 5 minutes. "

He turned around to go and grab his towel when he glanced at the clock and there it was, the clock was showing 5 o' clock. He looked out the window and saw that the sun was just coming up.

He stopped in his tracks and turned around when he saw an excited Amanda nodding at him. She jumped on his back and whispered in his ear,

"He has finally grown up."

"You are right."

"What do you say about another Rey? You said that when he becomes responsible you'll...."

"I know, I know. I was also thinking the same. Hehehe!"

He princess carried Amanda to their room not before telling Rey that they'll be going out shortly for the day so he was free to do anything.

Rey was back in his room unaware of the fact that he will be getting a little sibling and was focused on a screen in front of him. He has been looking at it for the last 10 minutes since he came back to his room. The content was still in the unknown language but it read (for you)

He recieved this title due to him waking up early in the morning. Rey was a heavy sleeper and no one, literally no one could wake him up without him wanting to wake up.

Even the sun may rise from the west for once, but Rey will not wake up on his own. Thus, his system's constant muttering throughout the night helped him get a new title, as the system calculated this as an overwhelming achievement and awarded him this title.

[What are you doing, master? You have been sitting like this ever since you woke up and even now you are like this.]

"....."

[Come on, tell me!]

Rey closed the screen as he shifted his focus towards his system.

"Hey system....."

[...…]

"You know, I have been wondering that something is weird. "

[Except for you nothing is, master!!]

Rey ignored his system's sarcastic remark and continued.

"You being a gen-A and bring able to bond with me is strange in itself but you having sentience is even stranger."

[...…]

"You know something about this?"

[..…]

[.....]

[.....]

"Answer me already." Rey was getting impatient.

[For god sake, shut up will ya? I'm thinking.]

"Sure take your time. I still have some 80-90 years, think all you want. "

[This kid.... seriously!!]

If someone who doesn't know Rey met him for the first time, their impression of him will be of an idiot who is impatient and has a bad sense of humor.

[I don't know... but shouldn't that be the case? Me being the only one with sentience doesn't seem right.]

"*sigh* I expected you to not know much, but you are totally clueless. Let's go to the library after my parents are gone."

Rey went down to have breakfast and after his parents have gone out for the day, he came back to his room to get dressed.

He dressed formally with some navy trousers and white shirt because the library they were going to was not any ordinary one.

[Where are we going? There is no library in this town in my knowledge.]

"Yep, there isn't. We are going to one of the four great libraries in Birchwood Town."

Normally, if Rey wanted to go there he would've either hired a horse or contacted one of those travelling agencies. But Rey choose to not go with any of the choice and instead went to Ed's house to take one of his horses. Exploitation at its best.

*4 hours later*

"Man, it's larger than I thought!" Rey was thoroughly surprised at the scale of the library which was around the size of the Mayor's residence.

[What'd you expect from one of the four great libraries? Of course it'll be big.]

"I thought it'd be in ruins considering the amount of time it has been around for. Consider me impressed by the empire! "

[Will you just go inside, master?]

"Fine, fine!"

Rey entered the library and was shocked on seeing rows and rows of books arranged in shelves and not just the ground floor, it had 6 such floors.

There was a desk which was the reception area in the centre, where 5 women were working, issuing and recieving books.

He looked around and saw lots of tables and even some sofas where many people were sitting. There were two stairways on either side of the reception desk, leading to the upper floors.

Rey went to the reception desk and took a map sort of paper which showed the different categories and subcategories of books on each floor. Though this was his first time here, he knew about the working thanks to Ed.

"What is this?"

[What the hell?]

Both he and his system were disgusted when they tried to search for the history section as they found it adjacent to the romance section.

"Why would anyone do that? It is just plain evil."

[I agree with you on that, master.]

Rey was trying to understand why would anyone want to read history after reading some romantic novel and if they did what kind of person would they be?

Rey climbed the stairs as he went past Action, Adventure, Fiction and likes and just thought that they could have placed it anywhere, but why history?

As he looked at the floors, he saw more or less the same number of people on the ground floor.

He finally reached the 3rd floor which was exactly the same as the ground floor except there were men working instead of women and only men were reading the books.

"They don't even have women on this floor. Just my luck!!"

[Seems like master is pretty lucky to have the attention of all these men for himself.]

"What?"

[Don't worry master, I will support you no matter who you like!]

"Shut up!"
