FEELING SAFE

Noticing how serious Brent was Jessy decided to tell him the truth. "Sir I am sorry, but the truth is, I made all the refreshments myself."

Jessy saw his reaction and knew immediately he didn't believe a word she said, "Will you stop talking nonsense and give me the name of the bakery quickly."

Jessy was so angry with herself for not being convincing enough, that she looked him in the eyes without blinking and said without hesitation, "Sir, your Father is satisfied with the refreshment so why are you bothered, if you want to write me a cheque for three hundred go ahead, it does not matter to me."

Brent observed the tears at the corner of her eyes, feeling his heart hurt for not believing her. "Jessy, that refreshment cost twice as much as you have coated?"

Brent saw her turn to leave his office, he went and stood before her and blocked the door so it could not open. Looking into the dark pool of tears in her eyes.

All she said without looking up at him, "Then you can write a cheque as you see fit Sir, it doesn't matter to me in the least."

Holding her shoulders as he looks at her face, "Jessy, are you angry with me?" With his back against the door blocking the exit. Brent knew no one could enter.

Jessy smiled to cover up her hurt, "Sir, why would you think that? I am indebted to you for making me happy, you provided shelter for me so when the night reaches I won't be like the homeless living in the street. Sir, you clothed me and gave me a job that I don't need anything more and what is there for me to complain about, please understand I am not angry."

Brent wanted so much to embrace her, to comfort her and soothe her heart seeing the tears, but he held back. He recollected what happened the last time they hugged and he didn't want to scare her off, "Are you sure?" he asked, as he gently stroked her face with his thumb.

Jessy senses what was his intention and also his fear, she reaches out and embraces him tightly just to reassure him of her words. "I am sure, Sir, serving people is what I am trained to do from a little girl, and it makes my heart fill with joy and happiness."

Still holding her in his arms, Brent cuddles her tightly, "Jessy, can I tell you something?"

Feeling safe in his embrace Jessy didn't want him to let go but she knew they were in his office. She looks up to his face, "You are free to speak Sir."

Brent dips his head and gently kisses her forehead, "Jessy, I want to thank you for preparing my breakfast and lunch each day."

With her head still lifted she said, "Sir, it is the least I can do to return the favor and to show my appreciation for all your blessing."

Holding her hand Brent asks with a smile, "Jessy, will you go out with me tomorrow to have burgers, it will make us our first-month anniversary?"
