Chapter 70

"What a wonderful day for a hanging." Jaysa heard her husband say. She

glanced over to him to see if he was talking to her or himself. He looked at the platform

as if something great was about to happen. Jaysa turned back to the platform. She

didn't want to be here, but if she left, Danzel would be a dick and try to do something to

Madison. It was a low move to involve her like that. Sounds of drumming could be

heard. Jaysa knew that this was it. The sentence was about to start. She looked back at

her husband who was grinning. A man began to speak out making Jaysa turn her head

towards the man that spoke on the platform.

"Horis T Willart has committed a heinous crime. He had lied to the King and

under law that punishment is death by hanging." The man spoke out. His arms crossed

behind his back and he stood tall and proud. "This punishment is to show all that you

cannot lie to his Majesty, or you will end up like him." He moved sideways letting the

side of his body face the crowd. A man who wore a hood over his head and Horis who

was shackled in chains was brought up to the platform. Some could hear the man weep

under the black hood. The executioner walked over to the man and ripped off the dark

colored hood. Horis squint his eyes from the sun rays that were blinding him. The

executioner pushed the man forward so he was in the middle of the platform. The

hooded man reached for the ropes that were hanging above the man's head. He

loosened the knot finding the right fit. The executioner wrapped the thick rope around

the man's neck and tightened it.

"Any last words." The hooded man spoke. His voice was deep and grainy. Horis

looked at the hooded man staring into his sharp white eyes. He glared at the man

because he knew that anything he said would just fall on deaf ears because he was

bashing the King's wife. "So you have nothing to say?" The man asked. Horis still glared

at the man. The hooded man looked over to his King. Danzel nodded as to proceed.

The executioner reached over for the lever ready to pull it when Horis yelled out.

"Your woman will be the death of this county. She is a curse. She is-,"

"Do it now!" Danzel yelled. The hooded man pulled the lever making the floor

split in two. The man fell through the hole. The rope caught his fall, but it broke the

man's neck in the process leaving the man limp and lifeless. No one moved the body

making sure that he was truly dead before they cut the rope allowing the lifeless body

fall down to the ground. The guards grabbed the man's arms and dragged the corpse

away.

"Well, that was a show." Danzel spoke as he sat down in his chair. He looked

over to his wife with a smile on his face. His features changed when he saw his wife's

tears fall from her face. "Why are crying?" Danzel asked. Jaysa wiped away the tears,

but they kept falling.

"You won't understand." She spoke.

"What's there to understand?" Danzel questioned. "You hate him as well. So why

shed such tears?"

"He was a human. You could have thought of another punishment." She yelled.

"He was about to send you to your death. Do you think if he got away with that

then he would shed a single tear for you?" Danzel yelled back. Jaysa was quiet. "I

understand that you're not used to seeing stuff like this, but you should not take it all to

heart." He spoke in a softer voice. "He committed a crime, and now he paid for it. That's

just what we as royal have to do when we come to these types of positions." Danzel

stood up and looked over the crowd that was once formed. "We have to keep the village

safe." Danzel looked at Jaysa whose head hung. "You'll soon understand why we do

what we do." Danzel spoke. "We need to go now." Danzel spoke. Jaysa stood up and

followed her husband back inside the castle. Once inside, they went different directions.

Jaysa just had to be alone.

Martin was sitting in his chambers. He sat at an oak chair staring at the table that

held nothing on it. He just started into space his mind going over everything that

happened. He finally looked around and notices his room was completely trashed. The

items that usually sat on the oak table were now scattered all over the floor. He stood

up from the chair and walked over to the bed that sat only a few inches from the chair.

The plan had backfired. He had hoped the King would believe a man over a woman. He

bit his thumb nail as he pondered as of why his nephew acted the way he did. It was

that girl. There was something about her that made his nephew go crazy. A normal man

would never doubt his fellow man, but his nephew did. He had to prove her innocent by

having sex and of course, that proved her innocents right away. Martin rolled over onto

his side and sat up in his bed. There was nothing that he could think of right now, and

he knew that his nephew was weary of him over this past incident. He was going to

back down right now and come up with another way he could become King. This would

take some time. Martin sighed and fell backwards. His hand was over his forehead.

"I guess I'll have to wait for my next chance. However, that crown will be mine

one way or another.
