Chapter 157

Danzel followed Joseph down the hallway. The two men stayed quiet until they entered into a familiar room. It was strategy room that Joseph and Danzel went to whenever they needed to talk. Joseph opened the door allowing his King to walk in first before closing the door behind him. Once the door was closed, Danzel spoke up.

"So what is it that you wanted to talk about?" Danzel made his way over to the chair and sat down. Joseph looked over to Danzel and answered.

"I have some bad news. I have received some information from the Kingdom to the north." Danzel's eyes moved over to the older man.

"What news is it that you have?" Danzel's eyes narrowed.

"I have gotten intel from someone that lives in the Kortanel."

"Why would someone that lived in Kortanel being giving you information about their own Kingdom. Unless." Joseph nodded. Danzel made his way over to a chair and sat down. He crossed his legs and leaned back in the chair. "So what does the intel that you received say." Joseph nodded again before starting.

"They said that there had been talk about Kortanel wanting to take over this Kingdom. It seems like the King thinks you are not fit to be sitting on the throne. He wants you removed. Or." Joseph stopped. Danzel leaned forward and waited for the man to continue. The older man was not sure whether or not to continue. Danzel's eyes squinted at the man.

"Or what?" Danzel almost let out a growl. He wanted to know what the man had to say. Joseph swallowed.

"Or, become something like a servant to the man. He would allow you to stay on the throne, but it you would be under his control." Danzel growled.

"I will not be anyone's slave. I don't care." Danzel uncrossed his legs and got up out of the chair. "What would happen if I deny giving up the throne or becoming his monkey?" Danzel tried to keep his anger in check. Yet, his voice showed the frustration he was feeling.

"If you don't voluntary step down from the throne, or become like you said, his monkey. He threatens a war." Danzel gritted his teeth. His Kingdom had not been in a war for several decades. He didn't want to have one now. How would he be able to prevent the war from happening?

"Sire. I'm not sure what we should do. I know that we don't want you to leave the throne. You are our King. No one else. Also, I'd be against you becoming someone's tool for whatever they want. You should be able to make your own choices. You shouldn't be controlled by someone else. Especially another Kingdom."

"So, then that leaves us with the last option." Joseph sighed. Neither men wanted to take this choice. However, there was no other alternative they could use. This couldn't had been in the worse time possible. He was about to have a child in the next few months. Now he had to deal with a possibility of war. It was the last thing that he wanted to think about. What was he going to do?

"Sire. I know that this is all talk right now. But still, The King of Kortanel has yet to say anything."

"The main word is yet. That man acted as if he was fond of me being able to take care of the Kingdom like I have. Yet. That was all an act." Danzel's fists were in a tight ball. He was getting irritated while thinking of the man and his fake smile. That man wanted to take over his Kingdom. There was no way that would happen. He would never let that happen. Even if he can't prevent the man from stopping from his plans of corrupting his Kingdom. He would no doubt take the man to war.

Jaysa and Madison were walking down the hallway. They were trying to find Danzel, but were not having such luck. They were checking in places that they believed he would be. However, he was not. So they continued their search. It was actually good exercise for Jaysa. She really needed to get up and walk around. The two have been looking for Danzel for the past twenty minutes. They had no luck so far.

"Your Majesty. What are you doing out here?" Jaysa clicked her tongue. She knew who it was and she had no intention to talk to the man. Yet, she gritted her teeth and turned to face the man. She held a fake smile.

"Oh, your highness." Jaysa spoke in a polite voice. "How are you doing. I haven't seen you for a while."

"Well." Martin flashed the same fake smile back at the young woman. "I have been busy doing things that need my attentions."

"Oh. So you are pretty busy."

"Yes. Just like my nephew. How is he anyway?" Martin questioned. Jaysa knew that Martin had no interest in his own nephew. He wouldn't have put them through the pain that he did.

"Oh, his highness is doing well."

"I see that." Martin looked down at Jaysa stomach. "I see that you are far along in your pregnancy. I hope that you are taking care of your body."

"Oh yes I am. I haven't ingested any types if poison, nor do I plan to." Martin scowled and then chuckled.

"Well. You really shouldn't be taking any type of poison. That could possible hurt you or the baby."

Like what you did that last time I was pregnant. Jaysa thought. She didn't want to be anywhere near the man. He went after her when she was most vulnerable and confused. He tried to tell her to get rid of something that caused her Pain. She didn't realize how much Danzel was excited about having the child. So when he lost it. Danzel was miserable. Jaysa's heart sank when she found out how depressed he was when that happened. That was she wanted to make this right for both of them. The man standing in front of her was not someone that she wanted to be involved in either of their lives.

"Well Sire. I need to excuse myself. I have other things that I have to do." Jaysa smiled at the man. She wanted to get away from the man as fast as she could.

"Well. I can understand. Then please. When you have some time. We should sit down and have an actual chat. We haven't really talked since you have been here."

"Oh, we should." Jaysa replied. The man bowed his head and walked passed Jaysa and Madison. Once he was longer in view, Jaysa began to curse the man. "Like I would ever sit down and talk to your ass. I know that you just want to try to something and either get me or my husband killed. I will never trust you. Bastard."

"That man." Madison started.

"Yes. He's the one that we have been having issues with. I want to tell you now. I'm sure you already know. But don't go anywhere near that man. And defiantly don't take anything that the man gives you."

"He's the one that gave you that poison wasn't he." Jaysa nodded.

"Enough of that. We need to go find Danzel. I really need to see if we can get out of the castle. I need some time away from this place."

"I can see that he gets under your skin."
