Chapter 321 ( Separation )

"I want all the information we've managed to get during our first experiments..." - Johannes said as he looked at Daigo.

"According to the information we got, the [Oracle Cells] of [Tsukuyomi] have such a high level of compatibility that they seem to be a match made in heaven with the [DNA] you have given us, Johannes-sama" - replied Daigo excitedly as he saw how all his efforts were being rewarded - "Although it is still not enough because the genetic blueprints are not yet complete... I feel we need something more to be able to create that connection..."

Johannes frowned when he heard this, only to relax slightly. That his experiments were successful was something he wished for with all his soul because it meant that his ultimate goal was getting closer and closer to completion - "Perfect... although that missing piece is worrying... tell me, what do you think that missing piece is?"

"That's a complicated question, but I'd say it's one of two things, the [DNA] of a unique [Aragami], or..." - Daigo fell silent as he was about to continue with his answer because he felt them catch in his throat.

"Speak..." - Johannes ordered with a frown.

"Cloud Strife's [DNA]..." - Daigo replied gravely as a screen appeared in front of the director of [Fenrir: Far East] - "As you know, no one has been able to use Cloud Strife's [DNA] for any successful experiments, be it cloning, human enhancement through genetic modification, among other types of experiments, but after thorough in-depth research, I discovered an interesting secret by exposing it to the core of the [Tsukuyomi] that I'm sure you'll find fascinating..."

"Go on" - Johannes said curiously.

"Cloud's blood seemed to be 'excited' about trying to devour [Tsukuyomi]" - Daigo replied with a huge grin - "It's as if Cloud Strife was specifically designed to devour our friend..."

Johannes frowned when he heard this because this kind of reaction could only be found in one species - "Are you saying it's possible that Cloud is an [Aragami] in Human guise?"

"I think it would be more feasible to say that Cloud Strife is a Human with the qualities of an [Aragami]..." - Daigo said as he continued to think - "I suppose the reaction of the central base is not wrong, though if it were me, I would have decided on dissecting it in order to discover its secrets."

"If Cloud Strife possesses the abilities of an [Aragami], then his danger level is much higher than we thought, though his usefulness also increased considerably" - nodded Johannes as he started to think - "Though now that you gave me this information, it's impossible for us to use him in this plan because if his [DNA] can devour [Tsukuyomi's], then all our efforts will be for nothing... though now I have another question, can Cloud Strife only devour [Tsukuyomi]?"

"With the few samples we have, we can't say for sure" - Daigo replied while frowning - "I say that because this situation only occurs when part of Cloud Strife's genetic code comes into contact with the nucleus."

"I see..." - Johannes muttered as he narrowed his eyes - "It's a pity... though we can always have a chance to get more samples from him..."

Daigo said nothing more, he just refocused his gaze on his research, as if it was a beautiful woman calling him to a passionate night of madness.

"[Deusphages]?" - Lindow muttered after hearing Sakuya's report regarding the mission, only to let out a sigh filled with irritation because somehow he sensed who the bastard responsible for the situation might be, though clearly he wouldn't say so because no, he had no proof, and two, it would create a clear rift between his superior and his little group.

"I feel like you're hiding something from us, Lindow" - Sakuya said as she narrowed her eyes because she knew the man in front of her for years.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Sakuya" - said Lindow while feigning ignorance - "But well, where's Cloud?"

"He said something about needing to prepare to leave because you had assigned him a special mission" - Sakuya replied with a frown.

"Special mission?" - Lindow asked with a frown, only to type at high speed when he thought of a possibility.

"Wait, if you don't know where it is... that means..." - Sakuya said as her eyes widened in surprise, only to run out of her leader's office in the direction of the blond's room.

". . ." - Lindow frowned even more as he watched as one of the camera images, showed Cloud leaving the facility alone - "What are you thinking, Cloud?"

Lindow really didn't understand what was going on because his blond friend's actions were strange, more so with the fact that he had finally been reunited with his two companions - "Maybe they know something..."

The leader of the [First Unit] calmly walked in the direction where he had seen the two women with a serious expression because it was obvious that Cloud had left without saying anything from the information he had managed to get about the [Deusphages].

"[Deusphages]..." - Lindow muttered as the bad feeling he felt, increased considerably.

Sakuya quickly entered the blond's room, only to see how nothing was out of place, with the clear exception of one thing - "Where are you, Cloud?"

She quickly scanned the surroundings as she tried to find a clue to the situation because she was honestly worried. She never thought that her mission would be a trigger for the blond to leave, and if so, she would have simply gone alone while the blond continued his training even if she had to ignore orders from home base.

Sakuya quickly searched through the blond's drawers, only to pause for a few seconds upon seeing a picture of the two of them hugging during one of [Fenrir: Far East]'s general meetings, only to let out a small laugh as she noticed how in the background, Lindow was on the floor throwing up from drinking too much.

She quickly shook her head to get those wonderful memories away so she could continue her investigation, only to notice that behind the photo was a note taped to it.

Sakuya slowly turned the photo over, only to stare at the note for a few seconds before gathering the courage to pick it up and read it because she knew it was quite possible that this note had nothing to do with her current situation.

She could feel her heart pounding because maybe she would discover some new things instead of the reason for her beloved's disappearance, only to let out a sigh as she gathered enough courage to be able to read the contents of the note.

[To whoever reads this note, I guess it means that I disappeared from the [First Unit] without telling anyone and I'm probably in trouble with a certain black-haired lady.]

". . ." - Sakuya could imagine how the blond had a smile on his face as he wrote this, only to sigh before reading on.

[I don't know if you're an ally looking for an answer, or an enemy who simply entered my room in search of gold, I don't really care either, though I'd like to think you're the former.... Anyway, I'm rambling on too much, all I can say is that I disappeared because I need to find something, although I'm honestly not sure what. Yes, I'm aware it sounds stupid, after all, I'm sure I left a lot of people worried, especially that lady].

"If you know you got me worried, why didn't you tell me you were leaving, baka?" - Sakuya muttered with a frown.

[I probably won't be returning to the [First Unit] for quite a while because my search may continue for an indefinite amount of time, that's why I'd like to ask a favour of whoever found this note.... Would you do me a favour and deliver a message to the people who care about me? You just have to look in the last drawer and open a small hidden compartment, there you will find some notes that you just have to leave on Lindow's table, I'm sure that idiot will deliver them, and yes, I also know that you don't need to follow my instructions, but well, a miracle can always happen, right?]

Sakuya frowned as she read the note, only to curse how much of an idiot the blond was sometimes. She slowly made her way to the last drawer and opened the compartment with utmost ease, only to see how there were 6 letters, 5 of them had an addressee and the last one was blank - "Blank? Why would he have a blank page in the middle of these letters?"

Sakuya was confused, she didn't understand the blond's reasoning, but something told her that that blank sheet was important or at least had necessary information on it. She quickly decided to put that topic aside and focused on the letters that were addressed to Lindow, Soma, Tatenashi, Houki and finally her.

Without a second thought, she opened her letter, only to open her eyes in surprise when she noticed that there was nothing inside as she thought, but only one thing, a small ring that she immediately recognised along with a chip that she could insert into her communicator.
