Chapter 343 ( Code [A-34] (2) )

Code [A-34], a military protocol that only happens when one of the original [Deusphages] is defeated.

This code was extremely important for all [Fenrir], because the moment one of the [Deusphages] fell, countless [Aragami] began to mutate and transform into much weaker forms of the fallen [Deusphages]. The danger level was at least one or two categories lower than the original, but that didn't mean they were any less dangerous than the originals because they retained the base abilities of the [Deusphages].

"Let's just hope the damage isn't as bad as [Tsukuyomi's]." - muttered the older man as he frowned while listening to the almost nil reports on [Amaterasu] - "Strange... there should be much more damage..."

The older man pondered on why there weren't as many [Amaterasu] during the outbreak produced by her death, only to come to the conclusion that it was related to the one responsible for killing her - "[Calamity]..."

Code [Calamity], the predictive name they had given to this new breed of [Aragami], a beast that was similar to a silver-coloured western dragon with strange red eyes.

"From his place of appearance, he is possibly an [Ashborn], that makes him an [Aragami] of high danger level" - muttered the older man while frowning.

The [Ashborn] were beasts with a birth danger level of Rank [S], in other words, since they come into the world they have the ability to bring destruction to an entire country, though it comes with the restriction that they can only survive in [Ashland] thanks to their biology.

"If it weren't for that detail, we'd be dead..." - sighed the older man as he shook his head - "But now, that no longer matters because the first [Ashborn] that can dwell outside of [Ashland], has appeared!"

[Calamity] was a beast that appeared to be peaceful, though this they could not attribute to his character, but to his current method of evolution

"Possibly it will seek out [God Eater] after it manages to adapt its genetic code..." - said the older man as he started tapping his desk with his finger - "We can't rule out the idea of [Calamity] going to places where there is a huge concentration of humans to help him continue his evolution..."

The older man started thinking at full speed, only to come to a single conclusion - "We have to kill him now that he is in his infant phase because the moment he matures, our world could come to an end..."

The man knew he was being too serious about the situation, but his instincts told him that this new breed of [Aragami] was extremely dangerous, even more so than all the [Ashborn] put together.

"There is no time to waste..." - Sighed the older man as he shook his head as he knew a huge amount of lives would be lost with the orders he was about to give. He quickly pressed a red button under his desk and said with a serious expression on his face - "Squad 1 to 7, I want you to prepare for the hunt."

"As you command sir" - a female voice responded to the older man's call - "Though Squad 5 is without its leader now that Lady Sleipnir has gone along with Lady Garm."

"Never mind, the vice-captain will take Sofia Victorious' place" - the man replied neutrally - "And I want you to instruct them to go in with the mindset that they may not come back alive"

"This is normal in our line of work, sir, but I will inform them" - replied the female voice, only to cut off the transmission.

"I just hope I didn't make a mistake in belittling [Calamity]..." - muttered the man as he sighed regretfully. It wasn't the first time an extermination mission ended badly because of belittling his opponents, this was especially against high danger level [Aragami] who were far more lethal.

"Interesting... a code [A-34]..." - Johannes said when he saw the urgent message he had received - "That means another of the [Deusphages] has died and I think I know who is responsible."

"The mysterious thing is that the last outbreak was not as massive as [Tsukuyomi's]" - Daigo replied while frowning - "This can be attributed to the fact that we were unprepared in the first instance, but taking that detail into account it is still little damage..."

"The number of [Aragami] that were affected by the mutation, was almost nil compared to [Tsukuyomi]." - Johannes said while squinting his eyes - "It's obvious that this is all related to Cloud Strife."

"It's the only answer we can come up with" - Daigo muttered as he frowned because he found the phenomenon produced by the death of an original [Deusphages] interesting, after all, it wasn't every day that you could see how a large amount of [Aragami] mutate and transform into weak versions of the [Deusphages] that died - "I like to call this phenomenon, the [God's Blessing]."

"[God's Blessing]?" - Johannes asked curiously at his subordinate's words - "Motives?"

"First, the [Deusphages] are entities that could be considered divinities within the [Aragami], not only because of their strength, but because they are the ultimate evolution of certain species" - replied Daigo as a huge smile appeared on his face - "Their [Bias Factor] is so active that it is possible that when these die, A large part of their [Oracle Cells] are scattered on the ground and they are looking for a host compatible enough to 'survive', after all, we have discovered that the [Oracle Cells] are alive and as such, they too wish to continue to exist."

"I see... an interesting hypothesis" - nodded Johannes with a small smile on his face - "If correct, that could explain why those [Aragami] transform into a bastard version of the [Deusphages]"

"I'm almost certain that my hypothesis is correct because the species that mutate, are the same base species as the [Deusphages]" - Daigo replied earnestly

While the higher ups continued to talk about their situations, the [First Unit] was resting after completing their first hunt.

"That was tough..." - Lenka muttered as he fell to the ground after killing his first [Aragami].

"And we're just getting started" - replied Sakuya calmly as she looked in the direction of her mobile base, only to frown when she noticed how an emergency message had arrived - "I just hope it's not bad news."

"Is something wrong, Sakuya?" - Lindow asked as he looked at his subordinates.

"We have a message from the central base" - replied Sakuya calmly as she walked over to the vehicle they were using as a base and opened the message they had received, only to frown and sigh regretfully - "This is worse than I thought..."

"What's going on?" - Sofia asked as she looked at the black-haired woman.

"Tsubaki sent us a message to inform us to be careful during our mission" - replied Sakuya with annoyance - "It seems that someone managed to kill another one of the [Deusphages] and we are about to enter the [A-34] protocol..."

"That's all we need..." - Lindow growled with a frown as he had received the information about said protocol that had been created over the past few days.

"Protocol [A-34]?" - Lenka asked as he looked at the group leader - "What is that?"

Alisa also looked up because she did not remember that protocol.

"It's when one of the [Deusphages] has been defeated" - replied Lindow with a frown - "You may not know this because you've been training all this time, but according to reports from the central base, every time an original [Deusphages] dies, a mutagenic outbreak occurs in some species of [Aragami]"

"That doesn't sound good at all," said Kota as his face paled.

"And believe me, I'm not done yet" - Lindow replied with disdain - "The [Aragami] affected by this outbreak, quickly transform into weak versions of the killed [Deusphages]"

"Oh my!" - Kota exclaimed in terror.

"How weak are they compared to the originals?" - Alisa asked calmly as she ignored her teammate's screams.

"Does it matter, those things are [Deusphages] no matter how weak they are!" - Kota exclaimed, only to feel a punch to the face - "Ouch!"

"That was uncalled for, Private Alisa" - said Lindow while shaking his head - "Anyway, the new [Deusphages] born by this method, are between one or two degrees weaker than the originals"

"That means they are manageable" - replied Alisa calmly while shaking her head.

"Exactly, on their own they are manageable, but there is still the possibility of more than one of those [Deusphages] appearing together, increasing the danger level by two to three levels depending on the number of enemies" - replied Lindow seriously while looking at the young woman from Russia - "That's why it's not wrong to be afraid, but at the same time you don't have to let that fear rule your decisions".

Lindow wasn't happy with Alisa's actions, but he wasn't happy with Kota's big reaction either. He understood that the prospect of facing more than one [Deusphages] was terrifying, but as warriors they had to stay ready for whatever came their way.
