4 - Petty landlord

"We can't afford the increase! My husband is in hospital." Never a good thing to walk in on, "Please just give us the standard time to move out." The jerk isn't even going to follow the laws and for a bright idea. Luna stood hidden and started recording with her phone, "I have paid rent for this month! It may have been a day late but you wanted me to pay the water bill! I am literally looking at my paperwork and the calendar right now." her mother sighed in aggressively, "Note even a week? That is illegal!" She screams, "We are legally here." She talking about out status in being allow to live in the UK, "We can't go back to America. There is literally nothing there, our house was burnt and washed away." She growled, "By the hurricane!" She tries to collect herself, "We need at least until next week to move the furniture. It's just me and my daughter to move everything." She trying to not cry, "I am not selling my furniture. You use it as excuse to have my security deposit. The building is in usedable condition." She frowns, "You were going to do that anyway. You told me back in October that you wanted to replace the carpet. We said no because we didn't want to ruined a new carpet. You do it after we leave and don't take it out of my security." She hits the counter, "I can't." She was hung up on.

"My mother just got hung up by the landlord. I have to turn this off." Luna whispers to her phone and stops the recording. She showed that recorded everything she heard to her mom as she walks in around the corner. Together they hugged and cries.

"I am so sorry about Alex." Her mother had the news already, "What took you so long to get home?"

"Those Seer kids wanted me to visit their house. But I managed to get away from them." She hugs tighter, "Not only is Alex following me around. I have a demon Lord that messed with the laws. I have some funeral ready guy too." Luna knows her mother can see and that they learned to make candles and tailsmans together, "I watched everything and I was nearly killed. Alex didn't die from his complex issues. He died from the Demon. So much blood." She can finally has some of the pain and burden eased, "Now we're about to be homeless." That was their burden together. Her mom was to exhausted to be angry or cry. She was tired from working three jobs.

"If only we could ask your biological prick for some help." She shook.

"Its not worth it mother. I refuse to be a book keeper. I don't care if I am qualified." Her mothers isn't as depth at these things as Luna is.

"If it can help us, some help from somewhere. I would even let an angel in." Luna leans close. Her mom passed out, so she had to carry her to sofa. Pillow and blanket. Luna pets her mom at her side and tried to reassure. Even adults can't be adults in extreme pressure.

"I am sorry that I couldn't help you more. I never realized how delicate your life is." Alex walking around the whole place for the first time. She never invited anyone and she never had time to. He looks at everything just as the undertaker did. Going through photo albums and looking at the hung photos. There is a sort of slow walk of the undertaker taking the wedding photo and approaching Luna. He compares the woman of the photo to how she is now.

"She doesn't have long to live either." He sort of announced.

"I know." Luna mumbled, "She is bad at hiding it from me." Alex quickly looks too, "Aren't you meant to have help with this stuff?" She shrugs. The undertaker posed at preventing Alex asking more stuff. They moved a different place and Luna was left alone with her mom.

"I am sorry but you have to be a book keeper. It has to be you. Your soul was adapted for the job, even if you refuse to." It was like her own voice talking at her. It seemed like her mother speaking in sleep but not. This was a wedding ring with a soul in it, borrowing her mother. It's done this before, "You don't have to be in a society. You are already a famous outside book keeper. Your journal has some very famous souls in your care. You can always borrow thier knowledge and experience. That is one the few gifts that helps in being a keeper." Luna frowns and checked that none were here. All but the demon she has chained, "You know where the others are. This will be given by then."

"What about everything else?"

"You will be fine. Everything will work out. There is hope. You had been through this before. You are stronger now." She nods and stands leaving her mom alone. Made a drink of tea and sits watching the window. They don't have anything interesting on TV, it's the free channels. Watching the high street of people passing by was more interesting. Always interesting creatures that live beside or with humans. She was never afraid of these monsters among. There was laws that prevent levels of interaction and she has never provoked them.

"I can make things better." She looked at how the demon has finally escaped his chains. It's just he was now trapped in this building. 'An idiot'. She sips her tea.

"We refuse any deals, Demon. You are no better then feed for the creatures that live here. You would have been protected in the chains." She ignores him totally, "You learn so much when you spend to much away." She sips her tea and already he freaks out about the ceiling being alive, "I am sure that my fluffy kitty will toy with you a little while. He is a bit to strong then he realizes."

"Luna!" She had to get up to make a new cup, "What is this?" She was in the kitchen with the undertaker and Alex looking at the orb on a pillow... it looks like decoration.

"They are sleeping. Leave it alone. His a hugger." She spoke nonchalantly, "He eats things at the boundaries of dreams. I recuse these things." She was mid way making tea again, "They are the same species as God eaters and Slayers." She was forced to put the kettle down while she was about to pour, "They are just as much a ghost as you are to me." She takes the undertakers hand off her and continues pouring, "Are my friends a problem for you lot?" She sees he was playing it calm, "We have candles for that." She stirs gentle, "Not all of them want or need my help. Scurrying about as they was had. The veil that hide them is the problem, if you can see them that is."

"You're insane." She balances the flavour with a little cinnamon and is able to start drinking this one. Her shadow was gone, mostly it started packing or putting thing to sale for later. Her favorites were kept and stored away in her darkness. Aloof at sure organizing and standing to entertain her company.

"Luna..." Alex also totally seeing though so many layers of wrong. Coming to term that she was never a simple normal girl with problems that humans could see. That even with having the experienced undertaker being all this scared was defying so many stability of assumption he had. Now on his own reflections of the many creepy things she said in his past, he was understanding just how worse her life has been this whole time. That he should have been closer to her about it.

"Don't even trying climbing stairs." The demon all covered in wounds, his Armour flaking off him and his real scale colour on show. A red like blood and bright like stained glass in sunlight. His real blood was blue, as all demons do. Alex of course vomited at the sight of blood, demon blood. She had a bucket at hand for this, he shivered from the gag reflex.

"You should have stayed in the chains." The undertaker carried the same tone of warning as she did, "We could have at least made a deal to pull you out of this place. Now you are trapped here now."

She picked up the orb on the pillow and pets it. She needed that love that she can guarantee feeling from these creatures, unlike the humanoids with to many complex issues. The closer she hugs the orb the feeling of that hug returned was gently wrapped around her. She now only has one hand to make tea, even still she is very comfortable with this. She can tilt her head and feel a head bumping back.

"You are crazy." The demon hissed, it seems like whatever the three of them had planning was the point of this being exclaimed, "I don't even want part of this."

"To late, you already killed plenty and devoured enough souls. The resentment carried to you can fill a whole planet." She posed in almost cheering a toast with the cup, "Its not the worst guy I met. But you have been a personal thorn my side for a while and so you are apparently are my problem. I am not deaf you know. The while planning to kill my father. Sugar that with my mother pleading to my biological twits. Dash a bit if her murder. And you there a cooking up my revenge." She felt she needs to put the orb down and in respect she does so. Back to the pillow on the counter. She gives a few pets softly and has both hands on her tea. She slurps louder then they can think clear. Putting a glare by the undertaker the most aggressive about her sounds covering.

"Don't you have enough for a new house in time?" Alex sort of changing subject but fails to.

"I have to finish school soon. My last two years, it's exam periods." She spoke wavering unsure of anything. Alex shook doubtfully that she even cope woth getting back to school, like all spirit people do - they see further ahead of the living. She takes a seat at the kitchen, stating at her tea. She was getting tired with her shadow doing all the hard moving work. She however wanted everything organized and safe before they forced her and her mother on the street. She doubts that the police would even listen to thier case. Painted up as some illegal immigrants here to steal anything. She was just waiting for the moment.

Paperwork sorted in her study storage desk, insurance that her mother and father had for the three of them. It was buried among the bills and the notices from the bank not approving any loans to her mother due to status. Their right to stay framed in glass hung up. Current passports and the old ones that they entered this country with.

"You should check your mother." The undertaker speaking with Luna sensing that a grim repear was by. She walked in around to her living room and her mother was struggling. It was horrible sound, enough to have the emergency service called for help. Consuming her focus totally. Everything upstairs in her own bedroom was consumed to shadows and that of tendrils snatching everything important from her parents room.

"Something is preventing me from taking her." The grim repear speaking to the undertaker.

"I got a guess that it is a waiting game for the lady to go into hospital frist." Speaking matter of fact and the continuous non breathing tone. He couldn't whisper that or hide that.

The door was opened and instead of ambulance it is the police. Even still they looked at the situation and escorts the landlord out of the house. They help Luna with her mom and having a better clear voice to explain to the phone operator of the situation.

"You want to arrest the mother? Seriously think about this." A few angels arguing that came in with the police, "The death god can't even release the soul out the body now." A lower rank being confused with the archangel that came.

"How old are you?" The police taking Luna to the kitchen for private interview.

"I am 16 and I go to school at..." She slightly lost her voice a second and takes a deep breath. Shaken, "My only friend died in my arms today. He saved me from going through a windscreen." She wavered and they had to pause a second as a drink was sorted.

"The secondary with the drunk bus driver. The lad that died was already ill." She nods at this, "I am so sorry that everything has happened so rapidly."

"I came home late. Some bullies wouldn't leave me alone. I walked in to the landlord calling my mom. I recorded it because I could beleive it myself." She was getting softer and more shaken, "My works three jobs and that's what we get?" She cried loud hard tears, "My father is in hospital already. Now their both going. What am I meant to do?" The police have a heart st least and they had folks seeing the half packaging job, a rushed job.

"May we listen to the recording." She nods and plays it loudly. The police makes notes, the angels shiver in there being a layer of wrong about this. That there was something more about this. A officer radios a few questions and they had the systems to fact check things. A officer went outside to speak to the ambulance crew, they give bad news and a lady officer came in. Explaining the options or what they can allow. The payments about rent were recovered on her mom's phone. Added in with everything else. But all Luna can do was mentally break down, all this was overwhelming and to much.

At least the silver lining was not bailiff with court serving or any court serve paper on Lunas hands. This was a false attempt to use the police on them. There was nothing the landlord can do to prevent her staying here or her possessions from being stored here. Given the circumstances and that he was the trigger of such situation. He had the police account that his the one being abusive of his authority as a landlord, making a claim forward to the housing conduct authority.

The spirit world was buzzing here to. A client for spirit candles came into this situation. Overhearing the angels for why they are here. The undertaker. The Nyphm here trying speak honest which was ignored due to his rank, even if what he knew was important. The minor god was so mad of not being able to have his candles because of this level abuse use of authority. Further was that attention of a demon Lord being trapped here for harassing the living family. As a good will gesture, the god took command of ranks here. As all of this done the way is should have been. A fully qualified oath court hunter came and collected the lord demon. Undertakers began packing up things for her. The angels sorted out evidence gathering for the orginal issue they should be here for. Luna was left to be among the living humans with human problems.
