My daughter’s child

They strolled back up the busy street to Jackson's car only receiving a few glances from the unsuspecting people walking past them.

Jackson chuckled ,leaning closer to Alex sounding slightly amused . " using a little cloaking spell, huh, how cleaver."

Alex shrugged his shoulders revealing his plan to him "We came down here to get answers, not to have people fall at our feet. I'm sure there's a back entrance to the apartment the witch lives in .We can drive around to the ally behind the grocery store and see if she will talk to us."

" Just don't drink anything she gives you, remember they said she poisoned her own daughter " Jackson mummers as they stepped back inside the car. " I don't plan to have afternoon tea with her, just ask her a few questions about your wife."

Jackson pulled the car back onto the street, both of them eyeing the businesses on their side of the car, Alex pointed at a old brick building on the corner with a sign over the door that said Wilson's Grocery "there it is," Alex spouted " pull on around the corner and find a place to park. We will walk around the building and find the stairs going up to the apartment."

Jackson pulled the car around the corner finding a parking spot not to far down from the old brick building . He and Alex stepped out of the car. Alex concealed them from the public as they walked down the ally behind the building.

They spotted a wood staircase leading up to the top floor over the grocery store. It had a small landing at the top of it. They climbed the stairs and Jackson rapped on the door. Hearing footsteps inside the apartment they stood ideally by for a few minutes ,then Jackson rapped again slightly harder.

A few seconds past by ,finally the gray headed woman opened the door, Alex closed his eyes letting their disguise fall before her eyes. She stumbled back a bit stammering " Your Majesty" Alex didn't hesitate telling the woman what they were there for. " Hello, Mrs. Newbury, if you have a few minutes we would like to speak to you."

"We" the woman repeated narrowing her eyes down on Jackson . " Yes Mrs.Newbury we ,me and my brother, Prince Jackson." Alex said introducing her to him.

The gray headed woman nervously stepped to the side." Please come in your Majesty," she muttered, waving her hand for them to step inside.

Before Alex could ask anything about Karmen. She bowed her head and started rambling about details of her daughter's death.

" Your Majesty, I promise I did not kill my daughter. After she gave birth her husband confessed that he was a demon, that is when she took her own life . She drank the poison I had made for the rats around her home. I don't know how much you know about demons but witches and demons have been enemies since the beginning of time. And it's true I tried to send her husband back to the underworld." She brought her head up to look at Alex explaining the reason she didn't think she had done anything wrong.

"Your Majesty, you can't kill a demon there not like humans, witches and vampires. They have no soul, all you can do is send them back to where they belong."

" Mrs. Newbury , I'm not here to investigate a homicide , I'm here to ask you about what happened yesterday when you ran into my brother down the street."

Glancing over at Jackson she mumbled

" I knew I recognize you, The women you were with. I know her," she took a deep breath confessing what else she had done.

"She's my daughter's child, she looks like her father but she's got her mother's size. My daughter bless her soul was a shy sweet girl a beautiful person inside and out. But when she took her own life right after her half demon child's birth . I didn't know what to do with the child. I just couldn't bring myself to send her to the underworld with her father. So I put a spell on her to keep the evil inside . I have kept an eye on her from my Crystal ball from the time I left her on the door step of a big mansion out in the country. Up until about a week ago, and everything has been fine .Then all of the sudden I couldn't find her with my Crystal Ball . I was hoping it was just something wrong with my magic. I have been sick with the Covid . But yesterday when I seen the two of you, I could tell somehow the spell I had cast on her nineteen years ago had been broken. She will seduce you and lead you astray, she may be part witch but she's also part demon."

Jackson listened to the woman rant and rave and after she was done he gave her a warning one she will remember for a very long time.

" Mrs. Newbury my wife is not evil, she is kind and very sweet and if you ever come near her, I will personally kill you with my own two hands. I don't care if she's half demon , half human or witch what ever she is .She's my wife and I love her, and it would be in your best interest to forget you have ever known her or anything about her."

Turning to Alex he muttered "Alex I think we're done here."
