Losing Support

"Amy, will you let me know what are you trying to do?" Clarie shrieked as she saw Amelia concentrating on the batter.

"Baking a cake darling Clarie" Amelia muttered chopping the raisins into a half.

"Amelia, for heaven's sake, will you at least tell me what's running in your mind? Minutes ago you went bonkers saying you'd go and file a lawsuit and now you are happily baking a cake when we absolutely have no orders from any customer. What do you intend to do?" roared Clarie irritated.

"Well you said that Archer Arlington is a devil who'd go to any extent to get things done, right? Well then let me show him how he can't buy everything with his ass full or arrogancy" pouring the condensed milk into the batter, Amelia muttered.

"And that's the reason you are baking a cake?" Clarie darted a brow, unable to understand.

"There's a saying in Italy, le cose belle inziano con il dolce"

"What does that mean?" Clarie quizzed.

"Good things are meant to be start with sweet and now I am going to serve him the sweetest dish" Amelia pressed the oven button once the batter was set.

"Amelia, you need to understand one thing, if you really try to challenge Archer I am not going to continue with you," Clarie said.

"Whatt??" Amelia was extremely surprised hearing Clarie.

"I know that you have been with me when I had no one, I know you pay me well and we got pretty close, more like best pals, but Amelia you are not understanding the seriousness of the issue. Archer Arlington is a centibillionaire, if he wants something he will make sure to get that by hook or crook, and here you are trying to file a lawsuit over him. Do you even understand what you are doing?" yelled Clarie.

"The laws are equal for everyone, when he could screw the goodwill my café earned from years within seconds, should I sit here begging him? I will fight him the legal way" Amelia was adamant to step back.

"This is what I am saying Amy if he could screw the goodwill within seconds if he can make not even one of our regular customers doesn't walk this way, can't he fight the lawsuit. Do you even think anyone would come forward to file a case over him? And even if they does Archer Arlington will make sure to turn your life miserable" Clarie put very clearly.

Amelia looked at Clarie without saying any word, she felt blank. She couldn't believe her life turn upside down within a few hours.

"I am sorry Amelia, I know my words might sound like a betrayal for you. However, if I choose to stick to your side my life would turn into absolute hell. I know how far could Archer go. I know it is injustice, what he did is not right but this is how things happen. They rule us Amelia and please hear me out. Talk to him, sell your café and take the money he is offering. You could get a better café, heck to the café you can have a restaurant for yourself. Think about it" Clarie squeezed Amelia's hand tight.

"Wonderful, so now you want me to be a gold digger" Amelia chuckled ironically.

"From where do you so all these stupid deductions, Amy? Do you even know who is called as a gold digger? A woman who goes to any extent to get things done is someone whom we term a gold digger, she flashes her body like a seductress and doesn't have any shame at all" roared Clarie.

"Any person who'd trade their self-respect expecting something better rewarding, which they couldn't get through their hard work too comes under the margin of gold diggers and I am happy if you'd choose to make a life for yourself and flourish. Because I am going to fight him and get back my lost goodwill and respect, I will make sure the same person who damaged my pride get it back advertising for me" Amelia asserted.

"Oohhh God Amy, only the Lord can help you now. Thanks for all the help you have done, but if you chose to be the same adamant and fight with Archer Arlington, I can't continue" Clarie tapped her feet looking either way.

Amelia let a small smile, she walked towards the wooden cabin and pulled out muffins, she freshly baked.

"Lemon squished muffins, your favorites. All the best for your personal and professional life. Do great, please remember that you promised that you will have me as one of your bridesmaid. Party hard and lots of success to you" Amelia hugged Clarie tightly.

"I am sorry Amy" whispered Clarie looking down.

"Offo don't be Clarie, I am not any new to fighting alone. I know that life is a journey where we solemn need to walk alone and we all have our priorities, I choose a path that might hamper all of you, so I am happy that you stood for yourself. I will see the accounts and settle your account soon, I will deposit the amount to your account and will refer you to bakers around"

"You are such a sweetheart" Clarie wiped her tears.

"Hahaa… please tell Gio to take sensible decision. I don't want any of you people suffer due to me" as Amelia spoke she heard the oven beep.

"Ohhooo, the cake is ready" Amelia gulped trying to hide her tears ready to burst. She is not prepared for this. Since morning she has been blown away with shocks one after another and she couldn't stop but feel insanely depressing with everything going south.

"Will let Gio know, bye Amy" waved Clarie.

Amelia waved back doing frosting to the cake, concentrating on the even spread of the whipped cream. She waited for Gio to walk in as she was busy setting the cake planning her next move.

"Amelia, I am going to stay no matter what" Gio stressed walking in.

"That's soo sweet of you Gio, but I don't want you to suffer. Just because you feel gratitude don't stick here. I have no idea how things will go. I am preparing myself to jump into the fire, so I need to see whether I will be burnt down or grow back as a phoenix. It's going to be either. Don't meddle and take burns in the fight between the arrogancy and adamancy" Amelia asserted.
